Charlie House supports babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and their families, across the North-east of Scotland. The goal is simple - to help children to live as full lives as possible and help make precious memories for the whole family at the most difficult of times.
We have an exciting opportunity within our team, we are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Volunteer and Information Co-ordinator, reporting to the Children and Family Support Manager. This post is a key role to assist in our busy Services Team, responsible for ensuring that our wonderful volunteers are appropriately trained, supported and motivated. In this role you will work alongside the Services and Fundraising teams to identify volunteering opportunities with the aim of increasing the organisations capacity to support babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and their families in North-East Scotland. This will enable us to support the expansion and enhancement of our existing services, through increased efficiencies, but also support our long-term goal of providing a specialist support centre in Aberdeen.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Experience in a similar role

  • Experience of monitoring, reporting against plans and budgets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt style for different audiences and stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to respond effectively to changing priorities and circumstances
  • Proficient in using CRM systems to support effective data management and reporting

  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

    Pay: £24,000.00-£25,500.00 per year

Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE

The post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering volunteer projects that support and enhance the work of Charlie House. A key focus of the role is to ensure that volunteers are appropriately recruited, trained, supported, and motivated to make a meaningful contribution. The role also requires a strong commitment to the values, vision, and goals of the organisation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy, including induction and training packages.
  • Lead volunteer recruitment campaigns, manage the application process, and interview prospective volunteers.
  • Deliver relevant training sessions and oversee PVG checks for all volunteers.
  • Create and maintain a range of volunteering opportunities and role descriptions aligned to the needs of the organisation.
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to volunteers to ensure positive and effective engagement.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and improve volunteering activities to enhance impact and volunteer satisfaction.
  • Recognise and celebrate volunteer contributions, including award nominations, accreditation, and organising celebration events.
  • Review and update volunteering-related policies, procedures, and risk assessments to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Keep abreast of legislation and policy developments relating to volunteering and implement necessary changes.
  • Deliver presentations and talks to raise awareness of Charlie House and promote volunteering opportunities.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with multiple agencies across different sectors.
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising and Services teams to understand their needs and create tailored volunteer opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to promote volunteering through publicity campaigns.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively, including recording and reimbursing volunteer expenses.
  • Maintain accurate records and carry out administrative tasks to support the volunteering programme.
  • Provide timely and accurate information for Board reports and funder requirements.
  • Undertake training and professional development activities as required.
  • Actively participate in regular team meetings and contribute to organisational development.
