Position Summary: The Volunteer Center Manager oversees our volunteer center and is responsible for planning and running Volunteer Center projects as well as managing, leading and training staff and volunteers (upwards of 100+ volunteers a day) while providing a meaningful and productive experience. Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, this position performs various duties related to the rescue and distribution of products to MANNA's service area using Feeding America guidelines while following good food safety practices identified in the AIB standards for Distribution Centers. The Volunteer Center Manager provides both leadership and oversight as well as hands-on, physical support working alongside our volunteers. Our Volunteer Center Manager provides positive leadership and direction for our volunteer program, volunteer center staff team and volunteer center operations. This position works closely with other departments including the warehouse team, distribution team, mobile programs, food sourcing and development team. This role supervises the volunteer center staff to ensure the timely and safe completion of projects in the Volunteer Center throughout multiple shifts in a day. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Lead and manage our Volunteer Center staff team, plan and supervise volunteer projects, operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts to support the team in moving product. · Effectively manage and perform necessary logistics within the warehouse including but not limited to loading and unloading trucks and organizing and cleaning the warehouse for maximum output by volunteers. · Provide direction, training, supervision, coaching and performance management of all direct reports. Ensure all VC team members are trained on warehouse equipment. · Develop and monitor department budget, track and report on data and performance for the volunteer center, prepare inventory and product reports, perform weekly inventory counts, and keep accurate records. · Maintain objectives, goals, and work plans for the team and the organization. · Utilize communication and public speaking skills to present basic hunger education and MANNA statistics to groups and answer related questions · Uphold food and health safety standards: Maintain a safe and clean environment for volunteers and staff in accordance with OSHA, Feeding America, AIB, and Buncombe County Health Department; MANNA Foodbank Offer Letter 2.28.202S · Manage the daily implementation and practice of AIB standards to ensure food safety and good sanitation practices throughout MANNA Food Bank; Monitor compliance with all food repacking regulations and state labeling requirements. · Work closely with MANNA's Safety Manager in ensuring a safe work environment. · Collaborate with other teams at MANNA for efficient product management and logistics, including but not limited to Reclaim, Youth Programs, Distribution, Transportation, Inventory, Resource Development. · Participate in the planning, coordination, and execution of MANNA’s special events each calendar year Events include but are not limited to; Midnight MANNA, Student Food Drive, NALC Food Drive, Empty Bowls, Mountain State Fair Food Drive, United Way Days of Caring, Ingles Giving Tree, Gift Wrapping Table · Train and provide follow-up and regular support to staff to work effectively and cooperatively with volunteers · Develop, administer, and review policies, job descriptions, and procedures which guide the volunteer and programs and services, and reflect the overall values of MANNA Foodbank · Creates, administers and monitors expenditures for the volunteer program against the approved budget Requirements Qualifications: Education/Experience: A range of education, training, certifications and experience will be considered for this position. This range could include High School diploma or equivalent combined with five years of experience up to a four-year degree with three years of experience. Fields of experience can include but are not limited to non-profit management, program management, food systems, public health or another related field Proof of current, valid Driver’s License, auto insurance, use of a personal vehicle and clean MVR Demonstrated ability to facilitate and participate in virtual meetings and conferences. Program management experience, translating strategic initiatives into collaborative programming with community partners; designing outcomes and evaluating program results Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook is required Maintains a professional appearance at all times and represents MANNA in diverse settings Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively and communicate well within a remote team Must possess basic knowledge of, and commitment to, the mission of MANNA Foodbank Must demonstrate sensitivity and passion related to issues of poverty and hunger relief Experience working with volunteers is preferred Flexible schedule availability for evenings and weekends, as needed Working Conditions: Work will be performed in a warehouse environment. This setting that can be at times, hot or cold depending on the season. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to moderately loud within the Warehouse Physical Demands: This is a fast-paced hands-on physical work environment. The physical demands required are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The physical demands of this position are considered medium work. While performing job duties the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and move objects up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities require the visual acuity to operate motor vehicles; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus close visual acuity to perform activities including but not limited to preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading. Functions also require the ability to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard, and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Travel: Routine travel may be required within the service area. Current driver’s license required; copy of current auto insurance; and clean MVR required. Schedule: Flexible schedule required, including some evening and weekends as needed. Typical schedule is Mon. – Fri. 8a – 4p with evening and weekend hours as needed. In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency or order, MANNA Foodbank is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all employees may be called upon to perform regular or emergent duties. Compensation and Benefits: The starting pay for the Volunteer Center Manager is $52,191 - $55,091 annually.
