GENERAL DESCRIPTION/POSITION SUMMARY:

The Volunteer Center Project Coordinator is an integral member of the St. Louis Area Foodbank’s Volunteer Center team and is responsible for coordinating projects being completed in the Volunteer Center. This role will enable the Foodbank to have more insights regarding the projects implemented in the Volunteer Center, which will increase productivity and yield better results.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Warehouse experience preferred
  • Experience operating a forklift, preferred
  • Skilled in the safe operation of standard warehouse equipment
  • Digital and computer proficiency
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, ability to handle interruptions, maintains focus on tasks and produce accurate work
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check
  • ERP and WMS experience preferred, preferably Microsoft Navision or similar platform

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all projects executed in the Volunteer Center with a focus on matching operational and programmatic needs with volunteer shifts
  • Own production schedule and in-bound stock replenishment for Volunteer Center projects
  • Partner with the Product Sourcing team in sourcing food for Volunteer Center projects
  • Work with Volunteer Center management to plan volunteer packing projects and update the department’s Production Calendar as needed as well as ensuring the success of projects during production
  • Integral part in creating a positive volunteer experience, which will help facilitate ongoing volunteer support
  • Lead volunteer orientation at the beginning of shifts. Purpose of the orientation is:
    1)To educate about hunger relief and the Foodbank’s role in serving our neighbors in need, provide direction to volunteers, guide tours through the Foodbank facility at the end of the shift to encourage continued support as volunteers and supporters

2) Ensure volunteer safety during shifts by informing volunteers safe warehouse practices.

  • Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for the Foodbank and its mission
  • Coordinate the storage and rotation of product in an efficient, organized and safe manner with the Volunteer Center management and Inventory Control Manager
  • Work daily with Volunteer Center management to ensure products are in place for each shift
  • Provide inventory reports to management as needed
  • Work with Operations (specifically the Warehouse team) to ensure that all products are labeled and racked accurately; rotate and remove products as directed
  • Conduct accurate count of physical inventory as determined by Volunteer Center management to help manage inventory
  • Assist in inventory reconciliation; may produce related reports
  • Assist in various duties pertaining to maintaining accurate inventory
  • Coach volunteers and coordinate volunteer assistance to secure program quality in product repackaging
  • Work with Volunteer Center management in securing supplies to be used by the volunteers; this includes but not limited to: tape, shrink wrap and boxes
  • Train and demonstrate how to repack food within AIB food safety guidelines
  • During shifts, monitor the work of the volunteers to ensure they are following procedures
  • Complete weekly volunteer attendance reports and update master reports on the share drive
  • Responsible for following safe workplace policies
  • Responsible for following policies and procedures related to food safety and equipment safety
  • Take an active role in reinforcing safe work practices
  • Assist other departments, as needed, at special events (i.e. food distribution events and fundraising events).
