FTE: 0.8 FTE (30 hours per week)
Hours: Monday – Thursday, 9am – 4:30pm (Work outside of these hours will be required for meetings and events. Hours to be flexed as required.)
Location: Onsite at MCA’s office, expectation to attend in-person meetings/events as needed (locations will vary)
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator is an integral part of a committed, hardworking, and small team. The Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator has experience working with volunteers, building relationships with community members, and coordinating events/activities. They have strong computer skills, are able to deliver informational presentations, is highly organized and able to juggle multiple tasks, understands the importance of building relationships, and is willing to pitch-in where needed to support the vital work of Making Changes Association.
The Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator key responsibilities include:
- Volunteer recruitment, coordination & related activities (~40% of position)
- Community engagement (~25% of position)
- Supporting fund development events including AGLC related activities (~25% of position)
- Property & general admin/office coordination (~10% of position)
VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT, COORDINATION & RELATED ACTIVITIES
- Coordinate with the Programs team on volunteer needs, tracking of hours, volunteer job descriptions, enquiries, and outreach.
- Recruitment and onboarding of Dress for Success Calgary (DFSC) & My Best Friend’s Closet (MBFC) volunteers. (Recruitment and onboarding of volunteers for other programs as required.)
- Support of volunteers including regular communication of MCA related news/updates, maintaining volunteer records, volunteer recognition (individual recognition and semi-annual appreciation events), volunteer professional development, etc.
- Across all MCA Programs - coordinate the volunteer data collection/management, working within volunteer budgets, and tracking volunteer statistics for reporting and funding applications.
- Stay up to date on volunteer best practices, and support evolution of MCA’s volunteer processes and supports.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Experience working within a non-profit, volunteer-based program with volunteer and community engagement experience preferred. Equivalencies considered.
- Strong interpersonal skills; an ability to develop rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
- Extremely passionate about non-profit organizations, and in particular about serving and empowering women and teen girls to implement MCA’s mission.
- Able to support a female-safe space for client programming.
- Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience delivering information sessions/presentations
- Strong project management, organization and prioritization skills, and high attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously while being a collaborative and active team player.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to learn new programs/technology to support use of evolving databases, phone and other technical infrastructure.
- Must have ability to attend in-person events wherever they’re located – including on evenings and weekends. Access to a vehicle is required.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a clear police information check and vulnerable sector search.
