Description
Responsible for staffing and scheduling of volunteer for the Volunteer Services Department to support the Manager or Volunteer Services as needed. 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday | No weekends or major holidays Responsibilities: Primary Duties: Recruits, interviews, provides orientation, and schedules all adult and student volunteers. Ensures compliance of volunteer files. Maintains current records for all volunteers. Assists in developing volunteer assignment descriptions for all positions. Schedules and plans group orientations and in-service trainings. Maintains high volunteer morale through appreciation and recognition events. Coordinates monthly schedules and secures substitutes or permanent replacements as needed. Updates volunteer information in the database. Recruits active volunteers for special projects. Promotes a spirit of community throughout the hospital to attract and retain qualified volunteers. Delivers daily mail, cards, and flowers to patient rooms; distributes magazines and circulars to public areas and waiting rooms. Develops and manages relationships with department clinical managers to ensure timely fulfillment of volunteer needs. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Manages the Co-op program in collaboration with surrounding area high schools. Secondary Duties: Assists the Volunteer Services Manager with special projects and community awareness programs. Serves on ancillary committees that utilize volunteers. Supports the Volunteer Services Manager in presentations to departments and/or management. Human Relations / Contact and Communications: Daily interaction with employees, volunteers, and the general public. Requires excellent communication and presentation skills. Emphasizes diversity and age-specific needs of volunteer populations, including visual, communication, and hearing considerations. Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science Degree required. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to multi-task or manage multiple projects and people simultaneously. Must be sensitive to volunteer needs and capabilities.
