JOB SUMMARY
Volunteer drivers provide a vital lifeline to help people without transport to get out and about. Volunteers use their own cars to take passengers to a variety of destinations, e.g. health appointments, to do their shopping, attend lunch clubs and to visit friends and relatives.
Many of our passengers view their transport as much more than a car journey – it is also an opportunity to go out with someone they view as safe, have a chat with their driver, get out and about in the ‘wider world’, to take part in their communities and to remain independent.
We ask for a commitment of a minimum of 2 hours and are guided by your availability to drive during the week. Either Gedling, Newark & Sherwood or Rushcliffe.
We encourage volunteers to stay for a minimum period of six months.
SKILLS
· A competent, safe driver with a full UK driving licence

· A positive, professional attitude
· Knowledge of the geography of the local area
· Respectful of others and their diversity
· Good listening and communication skills
· Ability to use own initiative.
· Ability to deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information
· Good time keeping and reliability
· Basic literacy and organisational skills – able to keep basic written records.
