POSITION TITLE: Volunteer Engagement Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Administration
REPORTS TO: Director of Community & Parish Engagement
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, 40 Hours, (Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
(Occasional travel, some weekends and evening work)
SALARY: $23.00-$25.00 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s and/or relevant experience.
  • Ability to quickly learn and share out about Catholic Charities services, resources, and programs.
  • Ability to do research and obtain information on community resources, health, and social services systems in San Diego and Imperial County.
  • Knowledge of volunteer recruitment, training, and retention models
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to maintain an important level of accuracy.
  • A flexible, proactive approach to work includes the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize.
  • Ability to work, plan and organize on own initiative.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive information with discretion to maintain confidentiality and possess the skill to establish working relationships with community partners.
  • Knowledge of/familiarity with/sensitivity to the cultural background of populations served by Catholic Charities.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Commitment to the mission and values associated with the agency and the program, including, social justice, respect for others, health, and well-being.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (Preferred)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience speaking publicly in diverse forums.
  • Microsoft Office experience is required – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor and Record volunteer inquiries, screening, application forms, interviews, references, background checks, test or trials.
  • Outreach, enhance and deliver interactive community presentations that engage parish volunteers, stakeholders with a specialized focus among parishes and Catholic schools to invest in our mission, provide formation education, and increase mission awareness and promote philanthropic giving.
  • Support and coordinate parish and community outreach activities.
  • Ensure designated program staff and volunteers are equipped for volunteer activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, activities, and impact for reporting and grant purposes. Generate regular reports on volunteer engagement and outreach efforts for management and stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization at community events, fairs, and networking opportunities to promote volunteerism and our mission.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Team to utilize social media and other communication channels to enhance outreach efforts and engage the community.
  • Recognize and appreciate the contributions of volunteers.
  • Monitor and evaluate volunteer performance, providing feedback and recognition as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely progress notes on all engagement activities.
  • Manage projects and special assignments as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, make prompt independent decisions, and communicate effectively in a timely manner.
  • Prioritization and management of multiple responsibilities simultaneously, including schedules, records, and event logistics.
  • Passion for understanding the needs and concerns of volunteers and the community.
  • Demonstrates cultural and spiritual sensitivity toward individuals of diverse cultural and faith backgrounds.
  • Skilled in working collaboratively and influencing stakeholders from various departments and levels of the organization.
  • Maintain a very high standard of confidentiality on all matters related to CCDSD, including communications with individuals within or outside CCDSD.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Community & Parish Engagement and Chief Executive Officer.
