Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami (BBBS Miami) is seeking a Volunteer Engagement Manager to oversee the recruitment, training, and retention of volunteer mentors ("Bigs") in our community-based and school-based programs. This position plays a crucial role in growing and maintaining a dedicated and diverse pool of volunteers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary resources and support to create lasting and positive relationships with the youth they mentor. The Volunteer Engagement Manager will collaborate with the mentoring team and community partners to enhance our mentorship programs and contribute to our mission of helping young people realize their potential. Working from our headquarters at the Carnival Center for Excellence, which offers state-of-the-art resources for mentoring and educational activities, the Volunteer Engagement Manager will be pivotal in recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers, ensuring that they are well-equipped to make a lasting impact in the lives of young people in our community. This position requires a proactive approach to volunteer management, community engagement, and program evaluation to support our vision of creating a brighter future for children in Miami. Responsibilities Lead the volunteer recruitment process by developing and implementing strategies to attract potential mentors from the community, corporate partners, and schools. Conduct volunteer interviews and assessments to match volunteers with youth based on interests, skills, and program needs. Coordinate and facilitate volunteer orientation and ongoing training sessions to ensure mentors are well-prepared for their roles. Foster relationships with volunteers, ensuring that they feel supported, valued, and engaged throughout their mentoring journey. Manage volunteer engagement strategies, including creating communication plans, regular check-ins, and providing recognition for volunteer contributions. Maintain accurate records and data related to volunteer participation, training, and engagement in the organization's CRM system. Work closely with program coordinators to ensure effective matching of volunteers with youth and provide continuous support to both parties. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 2 years of experience in volunteer management, recruitment, or community outreach roles. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse populations. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with CRM or volunteer management software. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail. Knowledge of best practices in volunteer management and experience working with diverse, at-risk populations preferred. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required for training sessions, outreach, and events. Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation (travel to events and outreach activities may be required). Must pass background checks and comply with child protection policies.
