Description Position Summary St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri is seeking to fill the role of Volunteer/Hospitality Coordinator. This position supports the mission of the parish by recruiting, forming, coordinating, and retaining volunteers across all parish ministries. This role also oversees parish hospitality initiatives, ensuring a welcoming environment through coordination of events such as parishioner receptions, coffee and donut gatherings, and funeral luncheons. The Volunteer/Hospitality Coordinator collaborates closely with parish staff, clergy, ministry leaders, and the Director of Operations to ensure that volunteer engagement is welcoming, organized, compliant, and spiritually enriching. Essential Duties Volunteer Coordination Develop and implement a parish-wide volunteer recruitment strategy that reflects the parish mission and pastoral priorities. Promote volunteer opportunities through the bulletin, announcements, parish website, social media, parish events, and personal outreach. Maintain a welcoming and hospitable process for new volunteers, serving as a primary point of contact. Match volunteers with ministries that align with their interests, skills, and availability. Collaborate with ministry leaders to identify volunteer needs and role descriptions. Support ministry leaders in onboarding, training, and supervising volunteers. Address volunteer concerns with sensitivity, confidentiality, and pastoral awareness. Track volunteer participation and help ministries identify retention opportunities. Coordinate Safe Environment/child protection requirements in collaboration with parish leadership. Ensure all volunteers complete required background checks, training, and documentation. Maintain a centralized system for volunteer records, schedules, and compliance documentation. Prepare regular reports for parish leadership on volunteer engagement and needs. Communicate regularly with volunteers and ministry leaders regarding opportunities, training, and parish initiatives. Assist with parish events that rely heavily on volunteers. Hospitality Responsibilities Coordinate and organize funeral luncheons, including volunteer scheduling, menu planning, and setup/cleanup. Plan and oversee regular parish hospitality events such as coffee and donuts after Mass. Arrange and host parishioner gatherings to foster community and connection. Maintain inventory of hospitality supplies and ensure proper setup for parish events. Collaborate with ministry leaders and volunteers to create a warm, inviting atmosphere at all parish functions.
