Job Posting Title Volunteer Job Description Volunteer Chicago, IL About the Organization: Marillac St. Vincent Family Services has served Chicago communities for over 100 years. As a sponsored work of the Daughters of Charity, we provide vital programs and services in early childhood education, youth services, and community outreach services. We have two centers on the west and north sides, Marillac Social Center (a.k.a. “Marillac House”) and St. Vincent de Paul Center. Position Overview: Marillac St. Vincent Family Services offers distinctive volunteer opportunities for individuals willing to share their time on a more long-term basis. We ask these potential volunteers to complete an application, similar to the process for potential employees. This allows a more formal screening in compliance with certification requirements from regulatory bodies, such as the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and others. We also ask that you commit to one half-day or more per week for one calendar year. Please see the descriptions below before clicking/tapping on the “Begin Application” button: Harvest Hub: Food Pantry, Food Rescue, or Home Delivery Harvest Hub is operated by volunteers and includes client shopping days and preparation days. Volunteers prepare the food pantry area and food item displays, or assist clients directly on shopping days. Volunteers may help with the client intake process or the grocery area/food sections. Volunteers also unload trucks and sort food deliveries, restock items, or prepare food boxes for home delivery clients. Background check is a requirement. Weekdays, varying hours 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.; Marillac Social Center, St. Vincent de Paul Center Saturday Mentoring Young men’s mentoring group at Marillac Social Center. Mentors and mentees meet each Saturday. Volunteers for this program need to be responsible adults with an interest in working with boys 8th-10th grade. Background check is a requirement. Saturdays,10 a.m. – 1 p.m.; Marillac Social Center In-Class Volunteers Volunteers assist teachers and work with ages 6 weeks - 13 years. Help support a content-rich, developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports active learning and promotes children's progress in all developmental areas. Background check is a requirement.  Weekdays, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., 3 – 6 p.m.; Marillac Social Center, St. Vincent de Paul Center Tutoring Tutor school-age children throughout the school year during non-school hours. The program is year-round, Monday-Friday. The program was after school during the school year and continued during the summer. Background check is a requirement. Weekdays, 4– 6 p.m.; Marillac Social Center, St. Vincent de Paul Center   Qualifications: Requirements vary depending on the volunteer position you are interested in, but all volunteer applicants must be 18 and over.
