Job Details Job Location: YFT Bristow HQ - Bristow, VA 20136 Position Type: Volunteer/Intern Youth For Tomorrow is a 501 (c) (3) and a faith based, non-profit organization, founded in 1986 by Hall of Fame Football Coach Joe Gibbs. The organization is large, diverse, experienced and committed to serving at-risk youth. Roles & Responsibilities Build a positive relationship with mentees based on trust, caring, unconditional regard, and individual strengths and needs. Provide training on various skills. Meet with small groups once per month or more depending on availability. Attend and participate in monthly Mentor Supervision meetings, as well as work related trainings and events as mandated by YFT. Assist students in problem solving and provide a creative outlet. Consult with Mentor Coordinator for guidance and direction for emergency and/or high risk situations. Must have good oratory skills due to possibility of testifying in court cases. All duties and responsibilities will support meeting the structured program of care outlined in DBHDS and DSS state standards (DBHDS: 12VAC 35-46-800; DSS: 22 VAC 40-151-720) and the Office of Human Rights according to standard 22 VAC 40-151-820. Attendance at all training mandated by YFT. Other duties as assigned by the CEO or Supervisors. Required Trainings: First Aid/ CPR; Handle With Care: Standard Precautions; Emergency Preparedness; Shaken Baby; Mandatory Reporting. Qualifications A high school diploma with 2-3 years relevant experience. Ability to communicate with children/adolescences openly and nonjudgmentally. Ability to establish relationships based on equal responsibility and respect. Practical problem-solving skills and ability to suggest options and alternatives, as well as display a high level of sensitivity to persons of different educational, economic, cultural, or racial backgrounds. Must pass FBI/CPS background checks, and current negative TB screening, and be seven years older than your audience.
Responsibilities
The volunteer/mentor will build positive relationships with mentees and provide training on various skills. They will also assist students in problem-solving and participate in monthly supervision meetings.
