Title: Volunteer or Stipend Coach Year: 2025-2026 Supervisors: Head Coach and Athletic Director FLSA: Seasonal Mission, Values and Sense of Community Ensures that the mission and values of St. Thomas High School are upheld within the sport Gives witness to integrity and respect while representing St. Thomas High School in the broader community Engages and becomes part of the St. Thomas High School athletic community Serves St. Thomas athletes and families with compassion and respect Role Coaches influence students on a daily basis. Each coach is a professional who has chosen to cooperate with students in sports and general life lessons of their child. The coach agrees to help lead the school’s athletic program and specific sport under the guidance of the Head Coach/Athletic Director. Primary Responsibilities Teach and demonstrate proper techniques for various sports and physical activities. Foster a positive and inclusive environment where all students feel encouraged to participate. Assess students' physical abilities and provide constructive feedback to help them improve. Assist in organizing and supervising extracurricular sports activities and interschool competitions. Ensure the safety of students during physical activities by maintaining proper discipline and enforcing safety and campus security rules. Maintain accurate records of students' performance and progress. Collaborate with other coaches, school staff, and parents (when asked) to support students' overall well-being and athletic success. Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in physical education and incorporate them into the practices. Oversee process of cleaning, repairing and storing all campus athletic equipment including the weight room. Other duties as assigned by Head Coach, Asst. Athletic Director and Athletic Director Schedule Coaches work requirements are dependent on season. Before and during the season, practice, preparations and game reviews will require evening and weekend work. Position Minimum Qualifications Successfully pass pre-screen requirements, including but not limited to drug screen and background check. Previous experience working as a PE teacher or coach or hands on experience in respective sport. Strong knowledge of various sports, physical activities, and fitness techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their fitness goals. CPR and First Aid certification is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and school administration.
