Responsibilities

The CFA is one of the world’s largest volunteer-based emergency services, with over 1,200 brigades and 51,000 members. The Sustainable Volunteerism team drives initiatives to strengthen brigades and grow volunteerism through modern frameworks and recognition.
This is an exciting opportunity to join CFA on a contract basis through to July 2026, as a Volunteer Program Coordinator where you will develop programs to support, retain, and empower volunteers in CFA services.

Key responsibilities of the role will include the following

  • Coordinate and deliver volunteerism programs aligned with the CFA Strategic Plan
  • Develop work plans and manage major events in collaboration with State, Regional, and District Managers
  • Support implementation of volunteerism initiatives through development activities, tools, and resources
  • Use project management tools to track progress and ensure outcomes
  • Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including volunteer associations and external partners
  • Identify emerging challenges, risks, and mitigation strategies
  • Provide expert advice on volunteer programs and project requirements for internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct research and evaluations to strengthen volunteer capacity and capability
  • Ensure state-led programs align with regional strategies through collaboration with field staff
