Description

AVAILABILITY: PART-TIME, FLEXIBLE, VOLUNTEER

Do you have enthusiasm and a passion for working with young people from a variety of backgrounds?
Would you like the opportunity to apply this passion in a meaningful role to launch young people for life, whilst also enhancing your skills, boosting your self-esteem and meeting new people?
The Sea Cadets is the UK’s leading maritime charity and provides a head start in life for young people through nautical adventure and fun. As part of the Sea Cadets family, Royal Marines Cadets enjoy all the exciting water activities offered by Sea Cadets, while also engaging in serious adventure training. Specialising in orienteering, field craft, and weapons handling makes Royal Marines Cadets unique.
Our volunteers work both directly with young people and behind the scenes to help make a positive difference to teenagers who are often struggling in today’s world and their communities. Market Harborough Royal Marines Cadets are currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join their team as Sea Cadet and Royal Marines Cadet Instructors. We currently have about 60 cadets coming from all over South Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
There are free training courses available to help you develop new skills, boost your CV, and support you in this role. These tasks can also be shared among volunteers, so why not come along with a friend and share the experience?

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTOR ROLE:

Whether you choose to be a uniformed leader or wear your own clothes, you can take an active role by teaching cadets. You will run lessons, activities, games, projects, and events that help cadets progress through The Cadet Experience, earning qualifications and building confidence along the way.
No matter your experience and skills, they can be used to help young people thrive – whether it’s map reading, orienteering, fieldcraft, camping, adventure training, first aid, or fitness/sports—there are no limits. Whatever your interests are, you could bring them to the Market Harborough unit.
You could also share your skills on the water with the next generation by teaching water sports such as kayaking, sailing, powerboating, canoeing, rowing, and windsurfing. If you do not have water sports qualifications, we will provide you with all the necessary equipment, training, and the chance to gain national qualifications, such as through the Royal Yachting Association. All you need is lots of enthusiasm!
