Position Summary: The Volunteer Teacher supports the organization’s mission by assisting in the education and development of children through teaching, mentoring, and classroom support. This role involves creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where children can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The Volunteer Teacher works under the guidance of staff or lead teachers to deliver lessons, support individual students, and contribute to the overall positive experience of children in the program. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Teaching and Learning Support * Assist in planning and delivering educational lessons or activities suitable for children’s age and ability levels. * Provide one-on-one or small-group support to children who need extra help. * Encourage active participation, creativity, and curiosity in learning. 2. Classroom and Child Supervision * Help maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment. * Supervise children during classroom activities, breaks, and outings to ensure their safety and wellbeing. * Model positive behavior, respect, and cooperation. 3. Child Development and Engagement * Support children’s social and emotional development through encouragement and positive reinforcement. * Help identify children’s strengths and areas for improvement. * Promote inclusivity and ensure every child feels valued and supported. 4. Communication and Teamwork * Work collaboratively with other teachers, volunteers, and staff to deliver quality educational experiences. * Communicate effectively with the supervising teacher about student progress, concerns, or incidents. 5. Safeguarding and Child Protection * Follow all organizational policies regarding child safety and confidentiality. * Immediately report any safeguarding concerns to the appropriate staff member. 6. Preparation and Organization * Assist with preparing teaching materials, classroom resources, and educational displays. * Help set up and tidy the classroom or learning area before and after activities.
