We are looking for compassionate people who share our mission and values, if you have the passion and drive to commit yourself to a challenging and rewarding role; we invite you to review our current vacancies. ABOUT US The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity. At Salvos Stores, we’re not just a retailer — we’re a community of changemakers working together to make a real difference. As the retail arm of The Salvation Army, we’re dedicated to raising funds that support life-changing programs for those in need. We operate over 400 Stores across Australia (including online), offering a sustainable shopping experience through the recycling of pre-loved items. We're looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our diverse and collaborative team as Volunteer Textile Sorter as part of our new and innovative Textile recovery center at Carole Park QLD. Join Salvos and be part of Australia's first AI-driven textile sorting & decommissioning initiative, transforming unwanted fabrics into valuable resources for the circular economy. Are you passionate about sustainability and making a real impact in your community? As a volunteer, you'll help divert textiles from landfills, supporting Queensland’s commitment to ethical consumption and responsible waste management. Your efforts will keep textile materials in circulation, reducing environmental impact while promoting upcycling, second-hand clothing redistribution, and innovative recycling solutions. This groundbreaking program — powered by artificial intelligence and robotics — revolutionises textile processing, making it faster, smarter, and more efficient than ever before. By getting involved, you’ll play a key role in shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future, where every thread counts. No prior experience needed – training will be provided. Please note – this volunteer role is not a paid position. What You’ll Gain: Hands-on warehouse and processing experience Opportunities to expand your skills in warehouse and sustainability Learn to work in a supportive, team-oriented environment The satisfaction of knowing your efforts make a environmental difference What You’ll Be Doing: Assisting in sorting, processing, and organising donated textiles Supporting the efficient flow of goods through our sorting process Collaborating with team members to meet daily goals Maintain the general cleanliness and tidiness of the work space while upholding safe and sustainable work practices Immediately report any health and safety concerns, notifiable incidents and near misses, to operation manager and ensure any hazards are controlled until rectified. All volunteers are to be mindful of their own health and to take care of the health and safety of others. Volunteers are required to comply with all TSA work, health and safety policies and procedures as applicable to their workplace. Join Us Today! Make a meaningful impact on both the community and the environment. Together, we can give pre-loved textiles a second life — and shape a more sustainable future.
