Job Summary
NAV CANADA plays a unique and critical role managing the 18 million square kilometres of Canadian civil airspace and the North Atlantic oceanic airspace under Canada’s control. To sustain its critical mission and drive continued financial and operational excellence, NAV CANADA is seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President & Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive leadership team.
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the CFO is a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the executive leadership team, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders. The CFO plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s financial strategy, ensuring the prudent management of its financial resources and risks while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational integrity. As NAV CANADA’s chief financial spokesperson, the CFO can translate complex financial information in clear and transparent communication to internal and external audiences.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the Finance function, which encompasses financial planning, accounting, external reporting, treasury, taxation, and investor relations.
  • Ensure the delivery of accurate, timely, and insightful financial data to support decision-making while driving continuous improvement in financial systems and processes.
  • Manage the NAV CANADA Pension Plan (NCPP), ensuring sound governance and financial health, and oversees the company’s rate-setting processes in compliance with the Civil Air Navigation Services Commercialization Act (ANS Act).
  • Oversees a senior leadership team, including the AVP, Pension Investment, the AVP, Financial Planning & Treasurer, and the Corporate Controller, while indirectly managing a workforce of approximately 85 employees.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, performance, and accountability across the Finance function to meet the dynamic needs of the organization.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor`s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in finance.
  • A Proven track record of success in complex and regulated environments.
  • Expertise in financial planning, reporting, risk management, and transformation, the successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional analytical skills, strong communication abilities, and a capacity to lead high-performing teams.
