Overview:We are seeking a collaborative and relationship-driven VP Corporate Controller to join our Accounting function and lead with integrity, humility, and technical excellence. The VP Corporate Controller will be responsible for the overall leadership of the company’s accounting, reporting, controls, and risk management practices. This leader will develop a strong, service-oriented team and enhance processes and systems to support scalable growth and a high-performance culture. This role requires a seasoned accounting leader who can balance technical proficiency with emotional intelligence—someone who values people as much as performance, and who is eager to create a culture of excellence, trust, and accountability. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Culture Champion a servant leadership approach by coaching, developing, and empowering the accounting team. Active participation in the Company’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Finance Leadership Team including presentation on key Accounting team initiatives and co-leadership of Finance team meetings. Foster a healthy, relationship-based team culture grounded in trust and create an environment that encourages collaboration, growth, and high performance while also promoting flexibility and fun. Positively influence the broader organization’s culture through integrity, communication, and consistency. Reporting & Audit Readiness Manage accurate, timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP. Ensure smooth coordination and leadership during annual audits, including coordination with the external auditors and ensuring responsiveness of the team and effectiveness and timely audit completion and reporting to the Audit Committee. Maintain compliance and ensure accurate and timely reporting for required quarterly bank reporting responsibilities. Gain an understanding of tax responsibilities and ensure compliance with all reporting and filing requirements. Collaborate with FP&A, Operations, Marketing and Business Development Leadership on reporting insights where presentation and alignment of data can assist with meeting company goals and strategic objectives. Build strong relationships with external auditors, tax advisors and banking leaders. Controls & Risk Management Oversee and continuously strengthen the internal control environment, ensuring key controls are designed and operating effectively. Establish strong month-end control processes focused on ensuring timely completion and review of account reconciliations as well as analytical review processes to ensure the accuracy of financial information. Lead efforts related to segregation of duties, fraud prevention, and cash management controls. Understand the IT and operational environments and how they relate to risk and financial controls necessary to ensure accurate reporting of financial information. Champion a risk-aware mindset throughout the accounting team particularly when it comes to cybersecurity and cash handling / fraud risks. Assist with leadership of Enterprise Risk Management processes designed to mitigate the largest regulatory, operational, strategic and financial risks faced by the Company. Process & Systems Excellence Drive automation and system enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes. Design and implement scalable accounting processes to support a growing business. Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles for accuracy and timeliness. Ensure timely monitoring of cash balances, including payment and cash receipt processes as well as controls to ensure bank and book balances remain regularly reconciled. Executive Presence & Influence Represent the accounting function in presentations to the Audit Committee and Executive Leadership Team (ELT). Present complex accounting and financial information confidently and clearly to executive leadership. Ensure adequate training and knowledge sharing of new and improved processes to functional leadership. Provide strategic guidance and insights in cross-functional settings. Technical & Cross-Functional Expertise Maintain deep expertise in GAAP, internal controls, and technical accounting matters. Partner with tax and treasury to ensure coordinated financial governance. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred. 12+ years in progressive accounting experience, with substantial experience leading teams and presenting to company leadership. Proven track record building and leading high-performing teams with a focus on people development. Demonstrated experience improving and scaling accounting processes and systems. Strong technical accounting and internal controls knowledge. Excellent communicator and relationship builder across all levels of an organization. Confident presenter to executive leadership.
