As the Vice President of (EHS) Environmental, Health, Safety & Security at Smithfield, you’ll provide visionary leadership that shapes the success of the business in the areas of Worker Health & Safety, Environmental, Wastewater, & Security. You’ll be the strategic force that ensures operational excellence and that sites not only meets, but exceeds its goals and expectations for KPI’s, Regulatory Compliance, Professional Development of our teams. In this role, you’ll be the strategic leader who drives the company’s commitment & culture for safety and regulatory compliance, including overseeing budgets and the function’s P&L, resource allocation, program development, and operational optimization. By utilizing advanced analytics and reporting tools, you will track performance, identify opportunities, and accelerate continuous improvement to achieve strategic priorities. Business Growth and Financial Performance: You will collaborate across multi functions on program development, automation & innovation tools by enhancing standards, addressing feedback, and delivering tailored solutions that will reduce regulatory and worker injury risks. Strategic Goal Setting and Accountability: You will define ambitious, measurable goals across all functions to ensure alignment with business priorities. By building real-time performance dashboards and conducting regular reviews, you will drive progress and maintain accountability. Additionally, you will foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and standardizing best practices across operations, ensuring agility and resilience in the face of change. Leadership and Culture Development: You will identify and develop emerging leaders, building a high-performing pipeline to ensure business continuity and future success. WHAT WE’RE SEEKING: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 12+ years of relevant experience in Worker Safety, Environmental or Water Treatment, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required. 7+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development. Possess a comprehensive understanding of OSHA and Environmental water & air regulations Additionally You must be flexible and able to work nights, weekends, and other varied hours to meet, you thrive in collaborative environments and are energized by travel for meetings and on-site engagements, dedicating 50-75% of your time to these activities. OTHER SKILLS THAT MAKE YOU STAND OUT: Leadership & Business Management: You have a proven track record in Worker Safety & Environmental compliance in the areas manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, and water treatment, with strong administrative and management skills that drive business success. You are results-oriented, balancing business priorities with elimination of risks & profitability while making decisive and strategic choices that align with company goals. People & Team Development: Your strategic approach to talent acquisition, development, and engagement drives the creation of high-performing organizations in both union and non-union environments. By fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability, you empower teams to align with business objectives, maximize performance, and contribute to sustained organizational success. Analytical & Strategic Thinking: With strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities, you approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Will be responsible for leading a team of EHS professionals with a top down approach including Senior Directors, Directors, and Senior Managers in all areas of EHS including Working Safety, Air & Water Compliance, Process Safety Management and Security.
