JOB OVERVIEW:
Working independently, the VP of Software Engineering Manager oversees software engineering talent across multiple development teams. The individual will be well-versed in financial and advisory technologies. As a trusted technology partner, you will be working with cross-functional teams to ensure the development teams deliver quality that is well-defined and understood by the teams.
The VP of Software Engineering Manager leads the development of cloud services and platform solutions needed to host business-critical applications that differentiate LPL in the market. This is a techno-functional, in some cases hands-on, technical lead role in the prospect and client management organization that will design, architect, and develop cloud-native and on-prem services to support LPL’s overall cloud strategy and migration to AWS.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for leading multiple teams, including managing team members performance and fostering the growth.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including architecture, data, product, and business partners, and strategies to scale, resilient, and modernize platforms
- Code / Implement guardrails to enable self-service and frictionless delivery, allowing teams to build and own end-to-end applications and services in the cloud
- Provide technical leadership to teammates through technical design and implementation of best practices, adhering to LPL’s modernization practices, Cloud practices, SDLC, and release management processes.
- Formulating workable solutions to complex challenges; logically deliberating on courses of action by examining and challenging assumptions, discerning hidden value, objectively evaluating evidence, and assessing conclusions.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams to adopt best practices or make process changes to drive more value for Advisors
- Ensure that service level agreements and contingency activities related to system or application availability are covered.
- Measure success and operational efficiency by say/do, velocity, defect remediation, and clear value to the products.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Technical Lead with minimum 10+ years of extensive design and implementation of complex systems in a full range of standard development platforms (.Net, SQL, Angular, C#, Web APIs)
- Full stack developer with 10+ years of experience in web/service-oriented applications.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in SQL server procedures, views, indexes and performance tuning.
- 3+ years of experience in working with AWS, especially AWS EKS, API gateway, Lambda, Glue, Aurora PostgresSQL and S3.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Kafka.
- Excellent understanding of system integration. Great track record of implementing the distributed systems with legacy and modern technical tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
