As a member of the senior management team, the Vice-President of Business Development provides leadership, direction and management of a team in the areas of Business Development, Sales and Marketing for Med-Eng globally to meet assigned orders objectives and support the achievement of revenue targets.
The incumbent initiates the development and implementation of critical programs and plans within these areas to meet and support changing and ongoing strategic business needs and directs all activities to support Business Development and Sales activities across the assigned product and market areas and is responsible for channel management and direct territory sales.
Participates in developing the three-year strategy plan, articulate market driven requirements including initial concept and business case development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Travel as required locally and internationally.
  • Previous experience in International Business Development / Sales / Product Management / Marketing (10 years)
  • Experience supporting government programs in the Defense / Law Enforcement / Public Safety
  • Proven leadership capability (10 years)
  • A Business or Commerce degree would be an asset
  • Eligible for a Government Security clearance

Responsibilities

Business Development / Sales Activities

  • Accountable for the development and implementation of Business Development / Sales strategies.
  • Directs the use of all sources available to find new sales leads/ business opportunities.
  • Leads global Business Development Organization with support of BD Directors, Sales Operations, Customer Technical Support.
  • Plans, coordinates and directs all BD Directors, Inside Sales, office and commercial management staff members to meet and exceed expectations to stimulate market position and growth.
  • Provide accurate Sales Forecasts, manages Opportunity Pipeline with BD Directors and Sales Team.
  • Regularly communicates upcoming opportunities with Operations to facilitate accurate build planning / Inventory planning.
  • Manages and monitors effectiveness/performance of Med-Eng worldwide Distribution Partner network supported by BD Directors. Directs creation/management of appropriate sales channels.
  • Leads BD Collaboration with Product Line Leadership to identify, analyze market to exploit emerging trends, products and market opportunities. Key member of the product review process.
  • Leads BD/Sales contribution to and execution of the Med Eng 3-Year Plan in collaboration with Finance/Product Line.
  • Supports the development and implementation of business plans to ensure profitability, growth and market share dominance.
  • Responsible for positioning, promotion and marketing materials of products in the market. This may involve customer presentations and participating in relevant conferences, symposiums and media coverage.
  • Interfaces with Contracts Management to support acceptance/negotiation of commercial terms.
  • Interfaces with Finance Leadership to discuss transactions / customer credit issues / payment / financing strategies and customer negotiations.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Defines, proposes, and manages annual departmental budget activities within company guidelines.
  • Overall responsibility for the Cost Centre and Expense/Travel Budgets Focus on managing cost of sales and improving organizational efficiency within BD organization.
  • Lead / review and approve pricing on non-standard customer requests related to products and commercial terms.
  • Collaborate with Product Line Leadership and Finance to develop annual product pricing, off list pricing, product margins and bid capture strategies to ensure prices balance market tolerance with adjustments for cost fluctuations and target margins.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of associates to meet organizational objectives, by establishing clear performance goals, providing regular feedback, and driving professional growth.
