About the Role: The Vice President of Legal and Compliance will serve as the senior legal advisor and compliance leader within a manufacturing organization, ensuring all business operations adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role is pivotal in mitigating legal risks by providing strategic guidance on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution. The VP will lead the legal and compliance teams, fostering a culture of integrity and ethical conduct across all levels of the company. They will collaborate closely with executive leadership to align legal strategies with business objectives, supporting sustainable growth and operational excellence. Ultimately, this position safeguards the company’s reputation and assets by proactively managing legal challenges and compliance obligations in a complex regulatory environment. Minimum Qualifications: * Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. * Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state. * Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the manufacturing or related industrial sector. * Demonstrated expertise in corporate law, regulatory compliance, contract law, and risk management. * Proven track record of managing legal teams and working effectively with executive leadership. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with environmental, health and safety regulations specific to manufacturing. * Familiarity with international trade laws and export controls. * Advanced certifications in compliance or risk management (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional). * Experience working in a publicly traded company or with corporate governance frameworks such as SOX. * Strong background in labor and employment law within the manufacturing context. Responsibilities: * Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive legal and compliance programs tailored to the manufacturing industry. * Advise senior management and the board of directors on legal risks, regulatory changes, and compliance requirements affecting the business. * Lead and manage internal legal counsel and compliance teams, ensuring effective delivery of legal services and compliance monitoring. * Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including supplier agreements, licensing, and partnership contracts. * Conduct internal investigations and manage responses to regulatory inquiries or audits. * Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety, labor, and trade regulations relevant to manufacturing operations. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed compliance into business processes and decision-making. * Monitor and report on compliance metrics and legal developments to senior leadership. * Develop training programs to educate employees on legal and compliance matters. * Manage relationships with external legal counsel and regulatory bodies as needed.
