QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Medical Degree (OD or MD)
  • 10+ years relevant experience
  • 10+ years of People Management Experience
  • Proven track record in leading medical affairs strategies in the healthcare industry (preferably MedTech and/or eye health)
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Ability to navigate a fast-paced and dynamic environment while maintaining a focus on results.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE:

You will report directly to the Company Group Chair, J&J MedTech, Vision.
The individual will act as the medical and clinical voice for J&J Vision, Inc., utilizing their expertise across Surgical and Contact Lens platforms to innovate solutions for unmet medical needs. They will advocate for medical insights in product development to enhance safety and mitigate risks, while positioning the company to navigate global scientific and regulatory changes. Additionally, they will lead a team of approximately 70 global experts in Medical & Scientific Affairs and Professional Clinical Education, promoting best practices and addressing industry challenges.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Key responsibilities include influencing stakeholders in the global health environment, fostering talent development, and driving breakthrough innovation. The leader will collaborate with various teams to support R&D, marketing, and safety efforts. Establishing procedures for safety and quality assurance, staying informed on technological advancements, and providing representation in leadership teams are also crucial aspects of this role.

  • Develop and implement the overarching medical affairs strategy in alignment with business goals
  • Lead a team of medical professionals and experts, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team to contribute to company direction and priorities.
  • Champion the integration of medical and clinical insights into product development, ensuring the safety and efficacy of our offerings.
  • Lead the evaluation of new product initiatives and manage post-market surveillance to uphold product quality and compliance.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to guide clinical study design and evidence generation efforts.
  • Ensure all medical affairs activities comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with marketing, market access, and health economics teams to provide medical expertise that supports product positioning and reimbursement strategies.
  • Work with professional education teams to develop and implement training and educational programs for internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Lead recruitment, development, and performance management of the medical affairs team
  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering professional growth and expertise in medical affairs.
