Vice President of Data Accountability and Compliance
Mission:
The Vice President of Data Accountability and Compliance leads the development, implementation, and enforcement of data governance and compliance strategies across the organization, focused on PEIMS and state compliance. VP will ensure that data handling practices align with all applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies while promoting a culture of transparency and accountability in data management.

Location:
This is a full-time remote position based in Texas, with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.
Travel Expectations:
- Travel to IDEA training events or step-back maybe required.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner with key departments (Legal, IT, Security, Risk, and Operations) to develop and maintain data compliance best practices across the organization.
- Manage internal and external audits of data handling and ensure that the organization remains compliant with relative regulations
- Ensure data governance standards and best practices are established and adhered to across all reporting and data services functions.
- Directs the production of appropriate operations documentation, standards, and communication.
- Assess potential risks to data compliance and develop strategies to mitigate those risk proactively.

- Communicate Deliberately: This leader prioritizes open channels of communication on their team. They facilitate team meetings, ensure clear dissemination of information, and encourage feedback loops within their teams to promote understanding and cohesion.
Additional Skills:
- Analyze organizational needs and strategy to align data governance and compliance to support organizational accountability and accuracy for all regulatory reporting.
- Ensure adherence to data privacy regulations, such as CCPA, HIPAA, and other relevant standards and laws.
- Leverage vendor partnerships to advocate strongly for IDEA’s interests in both functionality, customization, data interoperability, and cost efficiencies aligned with growth
- Achieve 95% quarterly data health as measured at the end of each quarter, with 15% data health measurement growth with each subsequent quarter.
- Leverage internal and partner data stewards to continuously expand internal audit and quality tools to measure expected health metrics for all data inputs.
- Partner with Research & Analysis and Software Development to align data management practices and capabilities with strategic needs for delivering business intelligence and applications success through custom offerings.
- Liaise with HQ and regional leaders to drive common standards around data stewardship, integration, and annual review cycles.
Required experience:
- Education: Bachelors in information systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or Business Administration
- Intermediate to advanced mastery of AGILE and/or Waterfall project methodologies
- Exceptional quantitative and technical skills
- 5+ years in data management, reporting, analytics, or relative areas, with a least 3 years in leadership or senior position.

Compensation & Benefits:
Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $131,000 and $158,500, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
