POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President of Development and Community Impact at United Way of Lane County (UWLC) is a key leadership role responsible for securing sustainable funding to strategically invest resources back into the Lane County community and support healthy organizational operations. This position drives intentional investment - designing, framing, and stewarding grants, partnerships, and community-centered initiatives that deepen equitable outcomes for children, families, and priority populations across the region. The successful candidate is a proven leader in generating significant financial support, with a strong track record of cultivating donor relationships, securing major gifts, and identifying new revenue opportunities through innovative, strategic approaches. The Vice President of Development and Community Impact is a member of the executive team and reports directly to the President/CEO. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, public policy, nonprofit management or related field plus 7 years experience with progressive levels of responsibility in a relevant field,
  • OR
  • Master’s Degree in relevant field and five years of experience or a comparable combination of education and work experience.
  • OR
  • 10+ years of relevant experience work experience

AND

  • Proven experience in successful resource development, preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience of professional staff
  • Proficiency with CRMs, experience with Virtuous a plus
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Accounting software acumen
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus

  • Participate as a member of the Executive and Leadership Teams to provide a united, visible, and strong leadership presence across the organization.
  • Ground work activities in anti-racism, equity, intersectionality, and other areas important to social justice; engage with work of internal equity initiatives.
  • Strengthen and build agile, collaborative and results-oriented Resource Development and Community Impact Teams.
  • Lead Resource Development and Community Impact teams to build annual plans that ensure alignment with strategic revenue and community investment goals while maintaining accountability to organizational values, policies, and best practices. Ensure policies and procedures are followed.
  • Promote cross departmental collaboration as a component of operationalizing the strategic plan and annual goals.
  • Cultivate strong, authentic relationships with donors, staff, volunteers, and community partners using cultural humility, empathy, and strategic communication to increase inclusive engagement.
  • Design and implement relationship-centered fundraising systems that support donor stewardship, long-term engagement, and the attraction of both financial and non-financial resources.
  • Conceptualize and operationalize goals and objectives for the department. Cultivate a passion for involving and engaging people in community life, as well as a commitment to excellence and the mission of UWLC.
  • Develop and oversee high-impact community investment strategies. Guide the organization’s community impact agenda, aligning grantmaking, programs, and partnerships with strategic priorities and measurable community outcomes.
  • Provide direction and support to the community investment and grantmaking process.
  • Support representation of UWLC on community coalitions, collaborations, and initiatives that align with UWLC mission and objectives.
  • Lead and directly participate in resource development efforts, including personally cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding key donors to support UWLC community impact model and revenue goals.
  • Oversee fundraising strategy and execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and using data-driven methodologies, diversified revenue growth, and a community-centric approach across individual, corporate, and institutional giving.
  • Actively identify and pursue new growth opportunities by meeting with community partners, donors, and funders to co-create innovative strategies and strengthen philanthropic support.
  • Ensure results driven by data and accountability. Monitor high-level impact indicators, communicate results with transparency, and recognize the shared contributions of partners in achieving progress.
  • Support creation, integration, and adaptation of technological platforms and strategies to improve the donor and community partner experience.
  • Provide strategic leadership for volunteer community-led committees informing resource development and community investment activities.
  • Provide supervision and coaching to direct reports, including training, evaluation,hiring.
  • Develop and monitor department budget, ensuring accountability of department finances in compliance with organizational financial policy.
  • Perform other relevant duties and special projects as assigned.
