Description
About Spree Spree is a Web3‑native rewards and commerce network that lets any Web2 brand issue stable‑coin‑denominated points, settle instantly, and unlock composable loyalty across millions of users. Think: Stripe × Air Miles × stablecoins—but open, programmable, and merchant‑agnostic. About The Role This is a full-time remote role for a Vice President of Engineering at Spree.Finance. Spree Finance / Engaged Labs has completed the protocol design and early proofs‑of‑concept. What we need now is relentless execution: ship the production stack, harden security, and scale to the first 50 enterprise issuers—all inside a year. Your Impact Architecture Owner – Define system boundaries across smart‑contracts, micro‑services, and front‑end gateway; document ADRs and threat‑models. Product to Delivery – Work closely with the product team to translate business requirements into working technology. Experimentation and Velocity – We prioritize excellence in speed and execution. Move fast and push others to move fast with you. We don’t know what will work, and speed is our moat. Hands‑on Delivery – Write production code (Node / Go / Rust preferred) and review PRs; unblock the team. Security First – Coordinate external audits, run adversarial game‑days, own the vulnerability disclosure program. Stakeholder Partner – Translate merchant requirements into sprint‑ready epics; work closely with Product, BD, and token‑economics leads. Talent Magnet – Source, close, and onboard engineers who thrive in ambiguity; champion an inclusive, feedback‑rich culture. Velocity & Quality – Track DORA metrics, set SLAs/SLOs, maintain CI/CD, perf, and observability dashboards. This role is fully remote with immediate start. Requirements 3 + yrs running ≥10‑person teams; hiring, coaching, org design 8 + yrs architecting cloud‑native, event‑driven systems; deep knowledge of queues (Kafka/NATS/PubSub) Proficiency in at least one: TypeScript/Node, Go, Rust, or Python; strong async & concurrency patterns Modern React (Next.js) and component architecture; performance optimization Knowledge and understanding of tradeoffs in Cloud Architectures and tooling: IaC (Terraform/CDK), Kubernetes, AWS or GCP; observability (OpenTelemetry, Grafana) Security Engineering fluency: OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, key‑management (HSM / MPC), threat‑modeling Web 3 fundamentals (2 yrs experience minimum): Interacting with EVM JSON‑RPC, ERC‑20/721/1155 standards, stable‑coin economics. Solidity or Rust smart‑contract development with at least one main‑net deployment Nice to Haves Zero‑knowledge proofs or account‑abstraction exposure for a web2 audience Prior work on loyalty, payments, or fintech compliance Data‑infra chops (ClickHouse, dbt, experimentation frameworks) Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage 100% remote with Quarterly On-Sites Significant Token Allocation and competitive salary. Significant Media Exposure across podcasts, conferences, TV appearances and more
Responsibilities
Define system architecture and oversee the execution of the production stack while ensuring security and scalability. Collaborate with product teams to translate business requirements into technology solutions and lead the engineering team in delivering high-quality results.
