QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience with 3+ years in a senior/executive HR leadership role.
  • Experience in a wholesale distribution company highly preferred.
  • High level of business acumen and the ability to manage complexity.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring and training skills.
  • Strong knowledge of HRIS, workforce management and HR analytics.
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification preferred.

Gemaire, a leading distributor of HVAC/R equipment, parts, and supplies, and a member of the Watsco, Inc. family of companies, is seeking a Vice President of Human Resources to lead strategic human resources initiatives aligning HR operations with business objectives while ensuring regulatory compliance in our multi-state/multi-site footprint. As the VP, HR you will report directly to the President of Gemaire and will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, shaping and executing workforce strategies driving operational excellence, improving retention in high-volume environments, and enhancing field and corporate employee experiences. This role requires a leader who thrives in a fast-paced, sales-driven environment, with demonstrated success in scalable HR process improvements.

Responsibilities
  • HR Strategy & Alignment: Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with organizational goals, focusing on workforce compliance, operational readiness, and scalable HR practices for an employee base of approximately 900 in a multi-state, multi-site organization.
  • Executive Partnership: Act as a trusted advisor to the President and executive team, providing workforce data, HR-driven risk assessments, and people strategies to support business growth.
  • Talent Administration/Organizational Development. Develop and implement strategies to attract, retain, and develop talent within an organization.
  • Organizational Development: Align talent strategies with overall business objectives.developing HR planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and develop specific programs to remedy.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Oversight: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, licensing, and background check requirements across all operational jurisdictions.
  • Field Workforce Support: Drive initiatives that improve field HR support, reduce turnover, and enhance the employee experience for hourly and salaried team members.
  • Payroll & Benefits Governance: Oversee payroll accuracy and timeliness for a decentralized, workforce while managing benefits programs and ACA compliance.
  • Leadership Development & Succession Planning: Implement programs to build leadership capabilities, manage succession pipelines, and improve retention across field and corporate environments.
  • Process Optimization: Drive HR transformation initiatives, modernizing systems and processes to improve operational efficiency and workforce scalability.
  • Metrics & Accountability: Monitor and report on HR KPIs including turnover, time-to-fill, licensing compliance, and training completion rates, ensuring accountability to business objectives.
  • Risk & Crisis Management: Oversee HR risk mitigation, internal investigations, and compliance audits, partnering with legal counsel and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Culture Champion: Foster a performance-driven, field-first culture that aligns with Gemaire’s values and operational expectations.
