Description
Description The VP of Software Engineering at Hyper Solutions leads the software engineering organization end-to-end, with full ownership across software development, DevOps, security, delivery execution, and production outcomes. This role is responsible for building and scaling a high-performing engineering team while establishing the systems, standards, and accountability required to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable software platforms. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, this position partners closely with the Director of Software Development and Product Leaders to align engineering execution with business strategy, customer expectations, and long-term platform evolution. Core Responsibilities Establish predictable engineering delivery through sprint rigor, release planning, forecasting, and transparent stakeholder communication. Own production outcomes, including uptime, performance, reliability, incident response, and operational excellence. Implement standards for release quality, rollback readiness, and post-incident review and learning. Build and mature DevOps as a first-class function, modernizing CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices. Improve observability, monitoring, alerting, environment management, and deployment safety. Strengthen AWS operational discipline and infrastructure practices, including Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) standards. Lead the next phase of platform maturity, guiding architectural evolution of the current Node/Nest monolith hosted on AWS. Reduce complexity in data models and integrations while improving scalability, maintainability, and system resilience. Drive pragmatic modernization strategies, including modularization and selective decomposition, while avoiding high-risk rewrite-first approaches. Define and execute a security roadmap aligned with leadership priorities and customer expectations. Establish secure SDLC baselines, including access controls, governance practices, audit readiness, and progression toward compliance standards such as SOC 2. Additional Responsibilities Own performance management, team structure, leveling frameworks, hiring strategy, and vendor partnerships. Build a high-accountability culture with clear ownership, strong technical standards, and disciplined execution. Develop engineering leaders and scalable career paths as the organization grows. Provide executive-level visibility into engineering performance, delivery predictability, and production health. Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, architecture standards, and operational maturity. Partner cross-functionally to balance innovation, risk management, and delivery timelines. Support long-term strategic planning related to platform evolution, scalability, and technology investments. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field; a Master’s degree is highly preferred. 8+ years of extensive senior engineering leadership experience with direct accountability for production releases and system reliability. Extensive experience leading engineering teams from approximately 10 to 20+ team members, including hiring and performance management systems. Experience advancing security and compliance posture, including SOC 2 readiness and audit practices. Demonstrated history of modernizing monolithic architectures pragmatically without disrupting delivery. Strong systems thinking across architecture design, integrations, and data model discipline. Deep understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, observability practices, and infrastructure operations. Practical security mindset with experience building structured security programs. Ability to travel as needed and work extended hours when business demands require. Flexibility to collaborate across different time zones and partner locations. Why Hyper? At Hyper, the VP of Software Engineering plays a foundational role in shaping the company’s digital future. You won’t just manage engineering execution. You’ll define the standards, architecture, and operating model that enable scalable growth, secure platforms, and long-term product innovation.
