JOB SUMMARY
The Vice President Pharmacy Health Plan (HP) oversees planning, directing, and coordinating pharmacy operations at Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH). This includes selecting and managing the outsourced Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM). They also handle the purchase, storage, compounding, packaging, and dispensing of drugs and therapeutics for BSWH Health Plan pharmacy.
Plans and directs pharmacy services programs and activities. This may include service efficiencies, process standardization, drug formulary, and drug utilization. It also involves vendor selection, productivity, performance standards, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and continuing education. Establishes and monitors pharmacy processes for compounding, packaging, and dispensing drugs. Ensures proper maintenance of inventories, drug diversion policies, and quality control processes.
Develops and establishes policies and procedures for the pharmacy function. Monitors policy implementation, communication, and compliance. Develops and implements a system-wide approach to managing and evaluating the BSWH pharmacy function and services. Advises BSWH leadership, medical staff, departments, and operations on BSWH pharmacy operations. Ensures alignment with overall BSWH business priorities.
Identifies and implements best practice programs and processes. Ensures compliance with all regulatory areas and legal requirements impacting pharmacy services. Directs the pharmacy services function and reinforces patient service delivery. Educates and develops pharmacy staff. Monitors pharmacy work environments for BSWH. Partners closely with medical, clinical, and senior leadership. Develops growth strategies, achieves targets, and improves outcomes.
