Description
VP, REVENUE CYCLE MANAGEMENT Remote Employment Type: Full-Time | Senior Management ABOUT NVERA Nvera is a revenue cycle management company built to operate differently. We're not building another traditional billing shop that throws bodies at the problem — we're building an autonomous medical billing operation, one that leverages artificial intelligence, automation, and smart technology to do what used to take dozens of people. Our parent company manages 2,000+ providers, 400+ clinics, and 70,000+ active patients across the country, with 250,000+ AI-powered voice calls processed monthly. Nvera is where all of that operational intelligence meets revenue cycle execution. Position Summary We're looking for a Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management to build and lead Nvera's entire RCM division from the ground up. This isn't a role where you inherit a team and maintain the status quo. You're starting from scratch — building systems, hiring selectively, and automating aggressively. The goal is a lean, high-performance operation where AI and technology handle the bulk of the work, and your team handles the exceptions, strategy, and client relationships. You'll report directly to our COO and work closely with the CEO and technology team. In the early stages, you'll also serve as the face of the company with prospective clients — someone who can walk into a room, speak the language of revenue cycle, and instill confidence that we know what we're doing. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Build & Lead the RCM Operation * Build Nvera's RCM operation from zero — people, process, technology, and infrastructure * Hire and develop a team of 10–20, with the explicit goal of automating yourself out of needing more headcount over time * Build SOPs, training documentation, and quality assurance frameworks that scale * Oversee offshore team components as needed, ensuring quality and compliance across geographies Design & Implement AI-First Workflows * Design and implement AI-first workflows across the entire revenue cycle: eligibility verification, charge capture, claims submission, denial management, payment posting, collections, and patient billing * Partner with the engineering and AI team to build or configure practice management and billing systems that support autonomous operation * Drive continuous automation initiatives that reduce manual touchpoints and increase throughput Own the Numbers * Own all key RCM metrics: clean claim rate, days in A/R, denial rate, first-pass resolution rate, net collection rate, cost-to-collect, and charge lag * Manage deductible hold strategies and patient journey workflows that maximize backend collections * Develop reporting dashboards and analytics that provide full visibility into revenue cycle performance for both internal leadership and clients Client-Facing Leadership * Serve as a revenue cycle consultant to clients — advising on payer contracting, value-based care models, and reimbursement optimization * Lead client-facing efforts in early stages: pitching prospects, onboarding new clients, and de-escalating provider concerns Stay Ahead of the Industry * Stay current on CMS regulations, payer policy changes, and industry trends that affect billing and reimbursement * Continuously evaluate new tools, platforms, and automation opportunities to keep Nvera ahead of the curve THE IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE * If you've ever said "If I were building this from scratch, I'd do it completely differently" — this is your chance. You're not joining a billing company. You're building one — with the full backing of a parent organization that already has 2,000+ providers, AI infrastructure, and healthcare technology at scale. * You'll have direct access to the CEO and COO, a mandate to innovate, and the resources to build something that doesn't exist yet in this industry. The VP of RCM at Nvera won't just be leading a department — they'll be defining what modern revenue cycle management looks like. SPECIALTY COVERAGE Nvera serves a broad range of medical specialties. You'll need deep or working knowledge of billing, coding, and reimbursement across the following: Current Specialties * Primary Care * Nephrology * EMS / Ambulance Billing * Emergency Medicine Expanding Into * Cardiology * Pulmonology * Laboratory * Anesthesiology * Radiology QUALIFICATIONS Required: * 10+ years of progressive revenue cycle management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (VP, SVP, or equivalent) * Proven experience building an RCM operation from scratch — not just managing an inherited team * Demonstrated track record of growing and scaling RCM teams from small to large (50+ FTEs) * Deep analytical capability: you think in metrics, build dashboards, and use data to drive every decision * Hands-on experience with practice management systems — ideally you've helped build, configure, or spec one from the ground up * Strong working knowledge of AI, automation, and RPA tools as applied to revenue cycle workflows * Experience managing offshore teams and maintaining quality across distributed operations * Expertise in value-based care models, payer contracting, and reimbursement optimization strategies * Familiarity with revenue cycle optimization platforms (eligibility engines, claim scrubbers, denial management systems, etc.) * Deep knowledge of deductible hold management and patient financial journey optimization * Multi-specialty billing experience across at least 3–4 of the specialties listed above * Excellent client-facing communication skills — you can pitch, consult, present, and de-escalate with equal confidence * Self-managing, fast-moving, and innovative — you don't wait for permission to improve things AI-FIRST MANDATE This is non-negotiable. We are building an autonomous medical billing team. That means: * You personally use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) in your daily work and can demonstrate how * You've implemented or led AI/automation initiatives in a revenue cycle environment * You believe the future of RCM is fewer people doing higher-value work — not more people doing the same work * You're excited to partner with engineers and product teams to push the boundaries of what's possible * You can articulate a clear vision for what an autonomous RCM operation looks like in 12–24 months Preferred: * Background in EMS billing and ambulance transport reimbursement * CPC, CPMA, CHBME, or equivalent certification * Experience working within a healthcare technology company (not just a billing company) * Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, BAA management, and healthcare data security requirements COMPENSATION & BENEFITS * Competitive base pay: $175,000 - $225,000 annually. Additional Compensation: * Performance-Based Bonus: Eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance. Benefits Include: * Unlimited PTO * Medical, Dental, Vision, and supplemental insurance options * 401(k) Plan with 3.5% Company Match * Company-provided equipment
Responsibilities
The VP of Revenue Cycle Management will build and lead the entire RCM division from the ground up, focusing on AI-driven automation and lean operations. They will own all key performance metrics, manage client relationships, and partner with engineering teams to design autonomous billing workflows.
