Job Description

The Vice President, Strategy and Business Development Digital Trust is responsible for defining and driving the mid- and long-term strategic evolution of SGS’s Information Security Assurance business in the region. This role accelerates growth across the Audit, Certification, Training, and Consulting services offered by the Business Assurance business in the North America Market (NAM).

  • Portfolio Strategy: Develop a comprehensive strategy aligned with SGS’s core strengths and long-term objectives. Ensure the strategy supports both organic and inorganic growth initiatives.
  • Organic Growth Acceleration: Design and implement a targeted organic growth strategy. Focus on identifying and qualifying high-performing sales and auditor profiles to drive revenue and service excellence.
  • Acquisition pipeline development: Build and manage a robust pipeline of strategic and market-specific acquisition targets. Conduct thorough market analysis to identify high-value opportunities.
  • Acquisition Execution & Integration: Develop detailed business cases and integration plans for selected acquisition targets. Post-acquisition, lead the integration process to ensure alignment with strategic goals and delivery of expected synergies.
  • External Partnerships: Cultivate relationships with key external growth partners to enhance market reach and capabilities. Leverage partnerships to support innovation and service expansion.
  • Brand & Market Presence: Strengthen brand awareness across North America. Establish and nurture strategic partnerships to reinforce SGS’s market leadership and visibility.
  • Market & Customer Insight: Lead the definition and oversight of market research initiatives to develop a deep understanding of customer needs and industry trends. Continuously monitor and analyze competitive activities to inform strategic decisions and maintain market relevance.
  • Sales & Business Development Support: Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the SGS Network to support sales, marketing, business development, and account management activities. Participate in sales visits, industry events, seminars, and joint initiatives with International Sales Managers and Global Key Account Managers.
  • Industry Engagement: Actively represent SGS in relevant scheme owner committees and working groups to maintain visibility, influence, and alignment with industry standards.
  • Strategic Commercial Activities: Contribute to the planning and execution of strategic sales and marketing initiatives across North America. Support the development of commercial strategies that drive growth, customer engagement, and brand positioning.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Strategy, or related technical field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience of the information security and/or cybersecurity assurance services business.
  • Strong understanding of Digital Trust standards including ISO 27001, ISO 42001, SOC2, HiTrust, FedRAMP and PCI-DSS.
  • Excellent technical competency and understanding of the information security sector.
  • Quality assurance and/or auditing within the digital trust space.
  • A solid understanding of accreditation requirements.
  • Information Security market savvy in North America with a strong customer focus.
  • Proven success in acquisition strategies and post-merger integrations.
  • P&L management experience preferred, with a strong understanding of financial drivers and business performance metrics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the company such as executive management, technical and commercial teams.
  • Change management and transformation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and can-do attitude with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.

TRAVEL

  • Frequent Travel Required (34% - 66%)
  • Travel to other SGS locations or client locations may be required from time to time including international travel.
  • Travel to conferences and other networking events for business development activities.
