JOB SUMMARY

The VP Strategy and Operations – COO of the Digital and Innovation Organization (DIO) serves as the operational backbone and strategic integrator of the DIO. The role ensures the execution of strategic priorities, drives workforce and location optimization, strategic portfolio and vendor management, and enables business operations to run effectively and efficiently across the organization. The VP partners closely with the CDIO and DIO leadership team to maximize business value and organizational performance

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong intellect, ideally with a bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or advanced is highly advantageous
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in technology, digital, innovation, or enterprise operations in a large-scale, complex international B2B technology-centric organization
  • Proven track record in operating model design, enterprise transformation, or technology business management
  • Deep understanding of modern technology operating models including Agile, product-centricity, data-driven decision making, and cloud-native architecture
  • Strong business acumen and ability to bridge strategic vision with operational delivery
  • Familiarity with metrics-driven performance management (e.g., OKRs, KPIs)

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:
United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 260,000 - 390,000 USD / Annual
United States - Redwood City Office GHQ : 276,000 - 414,000 USD / Annual
Canada - Toronto Office TRO : 247,000 - 371,000 CAD / Annual
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.

Responsibilities

Strategic & Execution

  • Define the DIO strategy and translate into actionable initiatives, performance goals, operating plans and measurable initiatives across the digital portfolio
  • Responsible for DIO performance, including risk management and reporting
  • OKR development, management, and performance monitoring/analysis

Workforce & Location Strategy

  • Lead workforce planning and location hub strategy, ensuring the right skills are in the right locations in partnership with HR, aligned to business priorities and financial metrics
  • Implement a scalable location strategy that maximizes productivity and increases employee engagement
  • Drive initiatives to build a future ready, high-performance workforce
  • Launch a digital university

Strategic Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the strategic intake, prioritization, and governance of the DIO initiatives
  • Drive annual planning efforts across portfolios, ensuring strategic alignment of prioritized investments to Equinix strategy and goals
  • Monitor progress on key initiatives, measure impact, and escalate risks or dependencies as needed

M&A Integration Lead

  • Serves as the point leader for digital integration across M&A transactions, ensuring seamless onboarding of systems, talent and processes into the DIO ecosystem

DIO Business Operations

  • Manages software asset management, resource management, and application governance to optimize spend, reduce risk, and drive operational efficiency
  • Business Process Improvements, policy and procedures for DIO
  • Budget and spend management
  • Partner with procurement and finance on vendor strategy, contract management, and value realization across the technology and innovation ecosystem.Manage executive-level interactions with key vendors, partners, and service providers
  • Partner with legal, security, and risk functions to proactively mitigate risk while enabling innovation

Strategic Communications

  • Lead internal communications across DIO to ensure alignment, transparency, and engagement with strategy, performance, and transformation initiatives
  • Build, coach and expand the customer enablement digital team to support the business’ success
