Responsibilities
  • Customer Service:
  • Greet customers as they arrive and escort them to their tables.
  • Provide menus and explain daily specials or promotions.
  • Answer customer questions regarding the menu, ingredients, and preparation methods.
  • Take customer orders accurately and ensure special dietary needs or preferences are communicated to the kitchen.
  • Recommend food and beverage options based on customer preferences or dietary restrictions.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction throughout the dining experience by checking in with the table during and after meals.
  • Food and Beverage Service:
  • Serve food and drinks to customers promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure that orders are delivered to the correct table and in the right sequence.
  • Clear plates, glasses, and utensils between courses and before delivering the bill.
  • Refill drinks and ensure customers have everything they need during the meal.
  • Provide dessert or after-dinner beverages, if applicable.
  • Setting Up and Preparing the Dining Area:
  • Set tables with appropriate utensils, glassware, napkins, and condiments.
  • Ensure the dining area is clean and presentable before the restaurant opens and after each customer leaves.
  • Ensure that all table settings are stocked with necessary items, including menus, silverware, and drink refills.
  • Handling Payments:
  • Provide customers with the check once they have finished their meal.
  • Process payments (cash, credit card, etc.) and provide accurate change or receipts.
  • Handle tips or gratuities in accordance with restaurant policies.
  • Ensure that any errors in billing are corrected and communicated to the supervisor.
  • Communication with Kitchen and Bar Staff:
  • Communicate customer orders to kitchen staff or bar staff promptly and accurately.
  • Ensure that orders are prepared correctly and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Inform customers of any menu changes, out-of-stock items, or delays in service.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff regarding any special requests, allergies, or modifications to orders.
  • Cleaning and Maintaining the Restaurant:
  • Keep the dining area clean and organized, including cleaning tables after each use, wiping down chairs, and sweeping or mopping floors when needed.
  • Ensure restrooms and other public areas are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance, adhering to the restaurant’s uniform policy.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth service and address any issues that arise.
  • Support fellow staff members during busy shifts by helping with clearing tables or running food.
  • Assist with training new waiters or staff members as needed.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines in accordance with restaurant policies and local health regulations.
  • Ensure safe handling of food and beverages to prevent contamination.
  • Follow procedures for handling cash and processing payments securely.
