Are you an experienced support worker looking for a new challenge…? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team here at Midway Transitional Solutions.
We have full time positions available within the company.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
Your role as a support worker will be to Support the young people on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis to promote their independence and support with the transition phase to becoming a young adult. You would be working in a holistic approach with the young people to support them into independent living and empowering them to: manage / obtain their tenancy, access local services and outline external agencies that can support them.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Working on a 2:1 or 1:1 basis with the young people
· Sourcing educational and/or work based opportunities.
· Supporting the young people to maintain their tenancies.
· Supporting the young people in completing workshops including: budgeting, cleaning, cooking and bill paying which will lead to independent living
· Supporting the young people in accessing the relevant support from agencies
· Promoting positive and healthy relationships.
· Engaging the young people in social activities
· Maintaining and completing paperwork in a timely manner.
· Acting as a positive role model.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE, THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
· Experience of working in a children’s residential setting or similar as a support worker - desirable
· A level 3 children and young people qualification – desirable
· Be flexible in your working approach and hours when required to cover sickness – essential
· Act as a positive role model for the young people – essential
· Maintain a high standard of report writing and other paperwork required – essential
· Be confident in yourself to challenge behaviour when required – essential
· Develop and maintain good working relationships with outside agencies – essential
· Support and encourage education and the further development of the young people to ensure they have the skills to live independently when they leave us – essential
· Attend meetings and training when required – essential
· Have a full UK driving license and access to your own transport
