PRIMARY DETAIL

  • Permanent Part-time role opportunity for an experienced administrator within Acute Care Ward team of Macquarie University Hospital, as part of MQ Health. This role is 2 days a week (Tuesday & Wednesday), with hours from 7am to 3pm. ASAP Start.
  • Competitive base salary of $68,169 (pro-rata equivalent) for Ward Clerks (Administration Officer – Level 4) as per the Enterprise Agreement. Salary sacrifices options and salary packaging benefits with Maxxia (including venue hire, meals, entertainment and novated leasing) so you have great potential to maximise your take home pay.

    The Role
    We are currently seeking a motivated, efficient, and pro-active Ward Clerk to join our newly established Orthopaedic Institute in Macquarie University Hospital. The role will have you undertake a variety of tasks including administering registration, bookings, admission and discharge processes for the ward. Clear and effective communication with patients, clinicians and colleagues will be key for a smooth-running ward.

Key accountabilities (include but not limited to)

  • Work as part of a team to ensure the achievement of departmental and hospital-wide goals.
  • Deliver a high level of service that is patient- and client-focused, inclusive of families and carers.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of services.
  • Complete scanning documentation as required and maintain up-to-date medical histories.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of clinical processes to promote excellent collaboration between healthcare disciplines and improve communication mechanisms.
  • Prioritize workload based on individual/team needs, acuity, and optimal time for intervention.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Provide quality administrative assistance in a professional and timely manner.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of consistent administrative practices.

About You
Reporting to Nurse Unit Manager (Acute Care), you will provide a high standard of customer service whilst assisting clinical staff in performing administrative duties with quality care and patient satisfaction (including reception duties, registration and bookings, admissions and discharges, clerical support and data entry) within the clinical department.
The successful incumbent will possess good communication and interpersonal relationship skills, ability to work effectively with various teams, and a dedication to quality and continuous improvement of internal workflow and processes. To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your CV and a 1-page cover letter:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar administration role is preferred. Medical or hospital environment desired
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team
  • Exceptional computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite, MS Word, Excel and web-based research are essential
  • Strong time management, multitasking and prioritization skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in established administrative processes, including rehab referrals, follow-up phone calls, faxing, and scanning documents.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively participate in a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, high-turnover surgical ward.
