Description Summary While upholding the Star Valley Health mission, vision and values this key position is responsible to provide quality patient care through performing delegated tasks within the realm of certified training in an efficient and competent manner under the direction of RN. This position will comply with all federal, state and local regulations. This is an at will position. Job Duties Responsible for answering phones in a professional manner. Works in conjunction with staff nurses in preparing discharge packets, transfer information, and admission paperwork. Assures all necessary admission or transfer paperwork is signed by the patient. Organize all discharged patients paperwork and place in file for billing personal. Help respond to patient call lights if needed. Receive patients for the inpatient setting. Directs visitors to appropriate locations in a respectful manner. Responsible for stocking and filling orders. Assures outdates are performed on a monthly basis. Completes the charge nurse checklists on a daily basis. Updating report sheets per Charge Nurse direction and corresponding nurse. Complete the daily census log. Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering, charging and conserving of supplies and equipment. In performing all duties and responsibilities, serves as a model for service excellence and patient satisfaction in the medical center, always upholding SV Health values and principals. Promotes a cooperative and congenial working environment with patients, colleagues and guests of SV Health. Attends, or is responsible for information presented, in-service meetings and training. Maintains equipment and environment to safety standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Requirements Abilities & Skills: Strong communication skills, including between colleagues, patients and families Comply with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations as well as maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in client and staff matters Embraces changes and improvements which may enhance the quality, function and appearance of the patient care experience and facility. Additional Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Able to use stethoscope and respond to verbal questions Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information printed sources and computer screen Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighting up to 50 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids. Experience & Education: Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. Secretary experience preferred.
