Your role at St John of God Murdoch Hospital As a Ward Host you will assist in all aspects of food preparation, equipment handing and the delivery and service of meals to patients, caregivers and visitors within the various areas of the Catering Services Department and Hospital. In addition, you will be responsible for communication with the kitchen and deliver the meal request to the patient in a timely manner, as well as return to the ward for the collection of the meal trolleys, after the meals have been consumed. The Position Delivery of patient meals and beverages to the patient in a timely manner. Always providing excellent compassionate service paying particular attention to the needs of the patient. Collection of patient meal trolleys from the ward. Follow instruction and guidance from Nurse Unit Manager where appropriate. Follow ward protocols and policy paying particular attention to infection control guidelines. Identify and escalate priority issues with the Catering Manager. Follow communication “scripts” for set up of the meal tray, delivery and collection of the patient meal. Identify customers’ needs, clarify information, and provide solutions and/or alternatives. Demonstrate compassion, commitment and connection with the patient. Uniform worn is in accordance to presentation guidelines outlined. Provide suggestions of process and feedback from patients that would improve the meal dining experience. Provide feedback to the Catering Manager or Team Leaders from patient comments. Holding strong verbal communication skills along with the ability to listen, you will communicate effectively with colleagues and customers with different personality types. To succeed you will You will have basic knowledge of all areas of kitchen hygiene, with a high standard of personal presentation and punctuality.
