WARD REGISTERED NURSE - NIGHTS

One Ashford Hospital, has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Ward Registered Nurse to join their friendly and dynamic ward team.

Reporting to the Ward Manager, the successful Ward Registered Nurse will be required to provide the highest standard of individualised patient care as part of the clinical team, including:

  • Ensuring the comfort and safety of patients during their visit/admission to the hospital.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance in line with hospital policies, national guidelines and best practice standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered Nurse with NMC

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team
  • Experience in a ward environment
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills and competency of required clinical practice. Phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs, and intravenous antibiotics

SKILLS

  • Comprehensive written, numerical and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in computer skills using MS Office Suite and web based reporting systems.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business.

Responsibilities
  • Provide pre and post operation care, assessing the needs of the patient, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care.
  • Identify patient care requirements by establishing a rapport, providing emotional and psychological support to the patient as well as to their family/carer.
  • Provide healthcare advice, educating patients/family/carers on the condition, medications, self-care and health maintenance, answering any questions they may have.
  • Carry out clinical nursing procedures, including administering medication, injections, intravenous infusions, and male and female catheterisation.
  • Record and maintain accurate patient medical records and histories on the relevant care pathways, clinical forms and IT systems.
  • Create customised care plans through working collaboratively with other departments.
  • Effective and safe discharge planning to various locations.
  • Participate in audit processes for monitoring nursing quality.
  • Assist with establishing and monitoring care pathways, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, making or recommending necessary adjustments.
  • Report incidents and complaints via the Sentinel reporting module and escalate appropriately to senior member of staff if unable to resolve.
  • Accurate monitoring and recording of Early Warning Score and escalate appropriately as per policy.
  • Maintain and practice comprehensive handover of patients between shifts, department and multidisciplinary team including external agencies.
