Description of Work Salary Range: $67,996-$132,593 Reporting directly to the South Central Region Director, this position is responsible for the total operation of a medium security Prison facility housing over 768 adult male offenders. Pender Correctional Institution employs 240 full-time, contract, and adjunct staff. In addition, Pender Correctional Institution’s mission is to offer services, programs, and work assignments to offenders to prepare them for transition into society. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: -This position functions as the facility head and oversees the Management Team at Pender Correctional Institution. -This position manages the total operation of the prison including Custody, Food Service, Programs, Administration and Maintenance. -Sets goals and priorities for each component within the facility and make modifications as needed. -Ensures that each section of the section of the Prisons’ organizational structure is adhering to all applicable Federal, State, Division and Agency policies and procedures. -Directly involved with hiring, disciplining, and training of employees. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Documented Supervisory skills in a prison facility. Knowledge of facility operations Knowledge of Prison’s policy and procedures Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. This position is Exempt Managerial and is EXEMPT from certain provisions of the State Human Resources Act (GS 126). This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is expected to be available on January 1, 2026.
