WAREHOUSE AND DISTRIBUTION SUPERVISOR
A locally owned and operated food service distribution company based in Richmond is looking for a full-time Warehouse and Distribution Supervisor.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Duties include leading the 24/7 distribution operations (loading, delivering, routing, maintenance) and warehouse operations (order picking, shipping, receiving, inventory, cleaning, other tasks). The ideal candidate for this position will be a hands-on hard-worker operational at all times with previous leadership experience and great organization skills with a positive team attitude and friendly yet professional company image through in-person interaction with our customers.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Previous leadership experience leading a team of drivers and in shipping/order picking experience in a food distribution environment would be a great asset
· Valid BC drivers’ license
· ICBC driving record (abstract) with no driving prohibitions or suspensions and no at-fault accidents in the past 12 months
· Excellent knowledge of the Lower Mainland routes and commercial loading zones with minimum 2 years driving experience in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland area
· Previous experience driving a 3-ton and/or 5-ton truck
· Operate electric power jack, counterbalance & high reach forklifts, plus valid certification
· Physically able to perform repetitive movements in different stressful work environment with changing weather
· Can lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis and perform physically demanding tasks
· Can work in a temperate refrigerated (4 degrees) or freezer environment (-18 degrees) for up to 8 hours
· Quick-learner and reliable/accountable for his work
· Can do and positive attitude with a team work mindset and open communication, including following instructions from head office
· Health and food safety mindset priority

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - WAREHOUSE:
· Supervise, plan and assign the tasks to the warehouse workers (order picking, shipping, receiving, inventory, cleaning, other tasks)
· Ensure smooth operation of the warehouse throughout the shift
· Ensure compliance with policies, procedures for health and food safety and security, standards and regulations in force and participate in their improvement
· Resolve various problems and related complaints and implement corrective measures and process improvements
· Develop and implement scalable operational strategies to optimize costs, quality, safety, and service levels.
· Conduct on-the-job training for new hires and cross-training for existing staff
· Monitor and evaluate workers’ performance and propose improvement feedback to align with organizational objectives
· Oversee inventory control processes and monitor daily inventory operations to ensure accurate stock levels and minimize discrepancies
· Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to reconcile physical stock with system records and investigate inventory variances and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence
· Implement and enforce inventory policies related to storage, handling, and recordkeeping
· Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment, including dry (room temperature), cooler (4 degrees) and freezer (-18 degrees) areas
· Perform manual lifting, stacking, pulling, loading and unloading of products (up to 50lbs)
· Promptly unload and accurately receive shipments/deliveries before putting away to storage
· Maintain a set level of accuracy and efficiency
· Perform other duties as assigned
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - DISTRIBUTION:

· Ensure smooth operation of the deliveries throughout the shifts
· Setup the deliveries by meeting customers, going over important guidelines and delivery instructions to share with the drivers’ team
· Track, organize and maintain customers’ store access (keys, alarms, contact numbers, etc.)
· Provide around-the-clock operational coverage for all shifts (day and night, weekdays and weekends)
· Conduct on-the-job training for new hires and cross-training for existing staff
· Schedule the maintenance of the fleet
· Perform repair on fleet, other equipment and building (“jack of all trades”)
· Ensure adequate condition and inventory of fleet/delivery equipment and supply
· Monitor and evaluate drivers’ performance and propose improvement feedback to align with organizational objectives
· Driving of a 3-ton and/or 5-ton truck across the Lower Mainland
· Delivering of dry, cooler and frozen products to our customers as well as knowledge of the different SKUs
· Perform manual lifting, stacking, pulling, loading and unloading of products (up to 50lbs) from the truck to the inside of the commercial locations with the usage of dollies and hand trucks
· Consolidation of orders prior to loading including sorting of freezer items and/or handling of fresh bakery products
· Promptly load, unload and accurately receive and deliver shipments
· Ensure compliance with policies, procedures for health and food safety and security, standards and regulations in force and participate in their improvement
· Resolve various problems and related complaints and implement corrective measures and process improvements
· Following company procedures and policies of the delivery routes
· Keep a clean, safe and organized truck at all times
· Interact with our customers and the public in a professional and positive manner
