Job Details Job Location: Columbia SC - Columbia, SC 29223 Job Shift: Day Job Category: Construction Job Summary: Interacts with general contractors, co-workers, and material handlers. Receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and other products. Assists supervisor by coordinating activities associated with roofing, siding, and/or maintenance installation projects and/or maintenance of existing building/clients’ grounds. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. Conveys materials and items from receiving areas to storage or to other designated areas. Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items. Assembles orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to customers and/or storage. Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed, and uses computer to enter records. Drives vehicle to transport items from warehouse to other locations or to pick up items from several locations for shipment. Assists in planning, scheduling, and tracking production of roofing/ siding installation. Runs errands and assists supervisors in supply pick-up and drop-off. Assists Warehouse with packing and loading crew material pick-ups. Assists with pre/post and safety inspections and documentation, including taking pictures of completed work to ensure quality craftsmanship. Collaborate with the Field Supervisor to learn and develop skills in construction management. May operate equipment such as forklifts or company trucks. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities: Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to work in both field and office settings. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Forklift certified is a plus. Valid Driver’s License. Clean driving record, with no accidents or major infractions within last 3 years. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One-year related experience and/or training. Physical Requirements: Employees are required to lift a maximum of 80 pounds safely, following proper lifting techniques. For any items exceeding 80 pounds or items that are awkward, bulky, or difficult to handle, employees must use team lifts or approved mechanical lifting devices. While performing the duties the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use arms and hands to reach. Climb and/or balance as needed. The job is inside, but exposed to a variety of extreme temperature changes.
