Who We Are
The GVFB provides assistance to approximately 15,000 people monthly across Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and the North Shore. We also provide food support to 150 agencies such as housing agencies, women and children’s shelters, transition homes and after school programs, which in turn provide hot meals and snacks to thousands of people each week, including people who are unhoused.
Our mission is providing healthy food to those in need. Our vision is to create healthy communities through fair and effective food systems. Currently, the GVFB distributes 8.9 M lbs of food each year.

This is a full-time permanent position, with the opportunity to learn and grow. The successful candidate can expect a Living Wage based salary of $52,747 annually.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Warehouse Associate efficiently handles, organizes, stores and retrieves goods by hand and with a variety of warehousing equipment, including electric pallet jacks, counterbalanced forklifts and reach trucks. They are also responsible for building orders, upkeep of the warehouse and inventory, and accurately conducting shipping and receiving duties as needed. This position requires constant teamwork and a robust understanding of warehousing and inventory management. A positive attitude, excellent communication skills, flexibility, and a willingness to learn are key elements for success in this role.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- 1+ years of experience in operating industrial machinery in a warehouse environment, including experience operating electric pallet jacks, counterbalanced forklifts, and reach trucks;
- 1+ years of experience working as part of a team;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and iOS (iPhone);
- Previous experience with warehouse or inventory management systems is an asset;
- A BC Class 5 driver’s license and ability to provide 3 years insurance claims history and 3 years clean driver’s abstract is an asset as there is opportunity to receive training on relief driving duties.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Exposure to ambient temperatures and noisy conditions;
- Proper safety footwear required;
- Bending and lifting boxes up to 50 lbs on a regular basis;
- Ability to physically operate and handle both a manual and electric pallet jack.
