Come join our growing team! *This position is based in the Oakland, CA office* About the Role Fictiv is seeking a culturally fluent, bilingual Japanese Translator to join our team in Oakland, California. This role will support executive and leadership communications, translate critical documents and meetings, and help foster mutual cultural understanding between our U.S. and Japan-based teams. Beyond translation, this role will contribute to developing cultural integration materials and serve as a bridge between our global team members. What You'll Be Doing Provide real-time interpretation in leadership and cross-functional meetings (primarily English ↔ Japanese) Translate documents, templates, and internal communications with high accuracy Serve as a cultural consultant for both Japanese and U.S. norms to support smoother team collaboration Support localization of company policies, processes, and training materials Be an active member of the People Operations (HR) team, contributing beyond translation when capacity allows Qualifications Native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English Deep understanding of both Japanese and U.S. business culture and communication norms Professional experience translating in corporate or high-stakes environments Excellent verbal and written communication skills Located in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate (on-site in Oakland office) Prior experience supporting leadership or People Operations (HR) teams a plus Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk and hear; use hands to keyboard, fingers, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, crawl, reach, and stretch.
