JOB SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Floor Shipping Team Lead supports the day-to-day operations of the shipping department within a manufacturing facility that handles fully regulated dangerous goods (DG). This role provides hands-on leadership to shipping associates, ensures safe and compliant handling of hazardous materials, and helps maintain shipping accuracy and workflow efficiency. The Team Lead acts as a key point of contact between frontline staff and supervisory management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or CEGEP required.
  • 2+ years of warehouse shipping experience, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical environment.
  • Prior experience handling dangerous goods in compliance with DOT/IATA/IMDG regulations preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of shipping systems, WMS/ERP platforms, and inventory tracking tools.
  • DG certifications (IATA, IMDG, 49 CFR) a strong asset; willingness to obtain certification if not already held.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to lead by example and motivate a team.
  • Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Commitment to safety, accuracy, and compliance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to stand, walk, bend, and lift to 50 lbs. throughout the shift.
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with exposure to hazardous materials, noise, and temperature changes.
  • Use of PPE required (e.g., gloves, goggles, respirators depending on product).

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Diplôme d’études secondaires ou collégiales (CEGEP) requis.
  • Minimum 2 ans d’expérience en expédition d’entrepôt, idéalement dans un environnement manufacturier ou chimique.
  • Expérience préalable dans la manipulation de marchandises dangereuses selon les réglementations DOT/IATA/IMDG, un atout.
  • Connaissances de base des systèmes d’expédition, des plateformes WMS/ERP et des outils de suivi d’inventaire.
  • Certificats MD (IATA, IMDG, 49 CFR) fortement souhaités ; disposition à obtenir la certification si nécessaire.
  • Excellentes aptitudes en communication et en organisation ; capacité à diriger par l’exemple et à motiver une équipe.
  • Certification chariot élévateur (ou disposition à l’obtenir).

Responsibilities
  • Lead and guide shipping team members in daily shipping tasks, including picking, packing, labeling, and staging of outbound shipments.
  • Ensure all hazardous materials are packaged, labeled, and documented according to DOT, IATA, IMDG, and company-specific requirements.
  • Assist with shipment preparation and verification, ensuring correct quantities, DG documentation (e.g., SDS, shipping papers), and carrier compliance.
  • Support and promote safe work practices, including use of PPE, emergency procedures, and spill containment protocols.
  • Train team members in proper handling and shipment of dangerous goods, including packaging standards and documentation requirements.
  • Communicate shipment priorities, delays, or issues with supervisors and cross-functional departments.
  • Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack) safely and efficiently.
  • Perform regular checks on shipping equipment and report malfunctions or safety concerns.
  • Assist with inventory control, staging accuracy, and reporting any discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and regulation-compliant shipping area.
