Purpose and Scope of Position The Warehouse Generalist plays a key role in the daily operations of the bakery's warehouse by ensuring the efficient handling, storage, and distribution of ingredients, packaging materials, and finished baked goods. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety and food handling regulations, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Duties and Responsibilities Warehouse Operations Management: Receive and inspect incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy and quality compliance. Properly store ingredients and packaging materials following inventory rotation practices (FIFO/FEFO). Pick and stage orders accurately for production and distribution. Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, adhering to food safety standards. Inventory Control and Reporting: Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts to maintain accurate stock records. Report inventory discrepancies or shortages to the Warehouse Supervisor. Properly label and document all stored materials for easy identification. Safety and Compliance: Follow all workplace safety policies, including proper lifting techniques and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Comply with food safety regulations and warehouse best practices. Identify and report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or any warehouse issues. Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely. Conduct routine inspections of warehouse equipment and report any issues for maintenance. Teamwork and Collaboration: Work closely with bakery production, quality assurance, and shipping teams to ensure seamless operations. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding inventory levels, order fulfillment, and operational needs. Support cross-functional warehouse tasks as needed to meet business demands. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic understanding of warehouse best practices, inventory management, and order fulfillment. Familiarity with food safety standards and warehouse safety regulations. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Basic proficiency in computer systems for inventory tracking and order processing. Physical ability to lift to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a dusty, loud, or hot environment. Experience and Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Must be 18 years of age to work around noisy and hot equipment and afternoon and evening shifts, if applicable. Must be fluent in English as a primary or secondary language to effectively communication with leadership and other team members. 1+ years of experience in a warehouse or distribution setting, preferably in a food or manufacturing industry, forklift certification (preferred but not required).
