JOB DESCRIPTION
The Warehouse Shipping Manager will be the primary leader of the Shipping department within the Distribution Center Operation. Within this operation includes Picking, Quality Control, and Shipping activities. Combining technical capabilities with strong Leadership and Management skills, they will deliver best in class performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost while ensuring a high level of employee satisfaction while driving continuous improvement. This is a hands-on operational management role that will work cross-functionally across the Warehouse and the Company.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires at least 1 year of relevant experience in warehouse or related operations
- Must have prior experience with direct reports including hiring, coaching, and developing talent.
- Requires a bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience
- Must have excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
Responsibilities:
Distribution Management is accountable for the activities within their assigned facility or operation. This includes the following: Safety - DC Leaders are expected to maintain the building and equipment in a manner that ensures a safe environment for both internal and external stakeholders. In addition, Leaders are expected to monitor operational practices so that unsafe activities do not occur. Housekeeping practices shall be managed daily in order to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. Security - Maintaining a high level of security is a requirement of all DC Leaders. Security has three key components: 1) Controlling contraband entering facility that could end up in a shipment to one of our customers. 2) Eliminating inventory shrinkage by employees. 3) Protecting inventory from external theft. Leaders must make certain that USG security policies are always active, and shrinkage is identified and investigated in a timely manner so corrective actions are taken. Fiduciary - Directors and Managers are responsible for numerous financial assets of USG. This includes but is not limited to physical inventory, material handling equipment, and warehouse supplies. DC Leadership is expected to protect the company’s assets by ensuring established policies and procedures are followed and the appropriate level of management and control is present. It is also the responsibility for Leadership to report any events that could have a negative fiduciary impact to their manager. Quality - In order for USG to flourish, the quality of our output must be high as measured by our customers. Leaders are accountable for the management and control of their operations to ensure that a high level of quality is delivered. All policies and procedures must be executed in a manner so that our customers receive the right product in the right condition. Delivery -Leaders are expected to manage their operations in a manner so that customer orders are shipped complete and on-time. Cost - Leaders are accountable for labor expense, repair and maintenance expense, supply cost, and following freight routing guidelines. They must manage each of these areas in a manner so that cost is minimized while achieving high levels of performance across all functions.
