JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Warehouse Manager
Location: Cramlington
Shift Pattern: Mon-Fri - core hours 8am - 5pm

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE LEVELS

Previous Warehouse leadership experience or educated to degree level with relevant management experience.
Strong understanding of the demands of a manufacturing operational environment including internal and external customer demands.
Excellent communication skills. Being confident in talking to customers (internally and externally) across the business while understanding their needs and demands,
Knowledge and understanding of SAP and order management processes and how accuracy of stock levels is paramount to maintaining effective and efficient inventory control.
Strong leadership skills to help drive the department forward and experience in people management.
A continuous process improvement mindset with the ability to effectively lead and manage change.
Experience with Hazardous materials management.
Must possess excellent communication skills and lives the Thermo Fisher Scientific 4-I core values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement.

Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Leading an overall team of 33 FTEs, responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operations of the Cramlington Warehousing function on site. They will be focused on ensuring stock availability and distribution of product to Customers ensuring that the site delivers high Customer service, high OTIF performance and low backorders. This is achieved by managing and developing effective and compliant processes.
Warehouse responsibilities include ‘Goods Inwards’ and ‘Dispatch’ processes. Safety, Quality, Compliance, Delivery, and cost objectives must be achieved whilst ensuring an engaged and motivated team. The position is responsible for developing a high performing team and driving to achieve a common set of goals.
The role is based within the warehousing areas (various buildings)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Day to day duties will include but not limited to:
Provide Leadership to the Warehouse team.
Develop a vision and strategy for the future looking at material and process flow, technology, and automation. Implement layout modifications to support improved efficiencies.
Drive/Implement KPI’s to manage the success of Receiving, Shipping, Warehouse, and the Cycle Count Program.
Partner with Customer Support and the Value Streams to ensure we are meeting customer expectations and expedite requests as necessary. Develop strategies cross-functionally to improve customer experience.
Provide leadership to achieve continuous improvement in safety, quality, OTIF (On Time and In Full), backorder value and inventory management.
To drive the Warehouse performance within the site goals and department metrics to ensure the department meets critical performance measures such as picking rates, picking accuracy and stock accuracy.
Conduct shift Tier meetings each morning at the start of shift.
Carry out incident and accident investigations, ensuring robust countermeasures are put in place.
Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards, ensure you are a role model leader.
Responsible for carrying out daily walk arounds, ensuring daily checks are conducted within all work areas – reporting into the Tier meetings at various levels.
Develops a standard operating mechanism and leads the Key Performance Indicator reviews, schedule adherence and Tier meeting. Identifies gaps and implements countermeasures.
Working with the planning and purchasing teams to ensure inventory control procedures are constantly developed to further enhance stock accuracy and to minimize the effect that any such procedures have on the business (to include any stock held at external sites). Develop contingency plans for potential shortfalls.
Conducts fact-based analysis using lean techniques to create value and manage to a future state Value Stream that eliminates waste and drives continuous process improvement related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, service, and productivity.
Builds strong alliances across all functions to ensure the goals and performance support the business goals and commitments.
Undertake performance management responsibility for team members, conducting appraisals and providing coaching and direction to attain good performance.
Mentors and develops direct reports and the entire Warehouse Team. Listens, supports, engages, and encourages employee suggestions and input to achieve excellent results while driving a culture of accountability.
Be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient training is completed for operators for products and processes.
Ensure that non-conformance is challenged, and countermeasures are agreed upon and implemented with relevant training support.
Maintain a safe working practices, partner with the EHS manager to ensure a high level of safety awareness among associates are working and implements 7S principles.
Contribute to the improvement of working procedures by constantly maintaining a Continuous improvement mentality.
Incorporates Lean Leadership into daily work and into the organization to include Visual Management, Stand-Up Meetings, Gemba Walks, and Leader Standard Work.
Ensure all external and internal auditory standards and improvement requirements are met from a financial and quality aspect.
Responsible for driving PPI initiatives within the BPC teams.
To delegate responsibilities as appropriate to ensure that tasks are completed in an effective and timely manner as required by the business.
Ensure critical metrics are met by working to the overall plan, including management of, and reporting.
Provide product expertise within the team and respond to operator queries.
Conducts fact-based analysis using lean techniques to create value and manage to a future state Value Stream that eliminates waste and drives continuous process improvement related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, service, and productivity.
Owns and drives a culture of “Right First Time and On Time”.
Responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, scheduling, and organizing work assignments within the company policies and procedures.
Cross train resources amongst the receiving, warehouse, and shipping roles to provide flexibility to support demand.
