SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience of working as a warehouse operative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to carry out lifting duties of heavy items and familiar with best practice manual

handling techniques.

  • Has a driver’s license that enables use of company vans to make customer deliveries.
  • Forklift license or willingness to work towards obtaining one.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and can actively listen and put

instructions into practice.

  • Proven experience of working collaboratively and successfully as a team in a

warehouse environment

Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE

Our warehouse operatives assist with the unloading and loading of Oak
Furnitureland products. They carry out the timely replenishment of the clearance
showroom and are on hand to assemble and dismantle the products. They are key to
the efficient and effective running of the warehouse and the successful delivery of
our products.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, by hand or with a forklift truck.
  • Checking for damaged or missing items and then sorting stock for storage in the

warehouse or in readiness for replenishment.

  • Taking goods to the appropriate storage space –using appropriate loading and lifting

gear for heavy goods

  • Operating a forklift truck to move and rearrange stock and ensure that products are

stored safely.

  • Carry out home deliveries as either a driver or a driver’s mate, plan efficient and effective

delivery routes and maintain required level of customer service.

  • Assemble, dis-mantle and handle stock onto and off the showroom floor, maintaining

quality and condition of the products being handled.

  • Provide a good quality and helpful collection service to our customers.
  • Implement and adhere to responsibilities related to Health and Safety in the workplace,

reporting incidents and risks and completion of all relevant forms and paperwork.

  • Takes responsibility for their own actions, operates openly and honestly and able to put

themselves in other’s shoes.

  • Good level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
  • Maintain optimism and professionalism and adapts well to change.
  • Track record of successfully completing compliance and health and safety training as

and when required for the role.

  • Be an ambassador for the Oak Furnitureland Clearance Stores and act in accordance

with the organisations’ values and goals.
