QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have and maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
  • Flexibility to work at other BEMC locations as needed
  • Ability to use a computer, calculator, and bar coding device.
  • Ability to lift 50 to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to lift 25 to 30 pounds above head, sometimes repeatedly for a short period of time.
  • Ability to push by hand approximately 250 pounds, sometimes with use of a dolly.
  • Ability to use tools such as, but not limited to, two-wheel dolly, fork jack, fork-lift, electric hoist.
  • Ability to count and compare values (to determine wire gauge, footage per pound of wire, etc…).
  • Prefer knowledge of NISC software system (ABS and CIS).
  • Prefer at least two years of warehouse experience, preferably with an electric cooperative.
Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE:

Perform duties to prepare order requisitions for inventory items, maintain inventory and transaction records, and receive, store, and disburse materials and supplies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintain control and accountability for materials and supplies.

  • Receive incoming materials from suppliers. Verify that the material identity and quantity comply with shipping/purchase order documentation when received. Verify that the received material is in good condition. Code material for control documentation.
  • Store and identify accountable materials in compliance with established procedures.
  • Maintain inventory records of stock materials. Conduct inventory counts as required and account for any count variation.
  • Prepare and approve requisitions for purchase of materials and supplies to maintain desired inventory levels or to supply materials for specific projects as needed using electronic NISC requisitioning system.
  • Storm Readiness - Maintain emergency response supply levels and coordinate the documentation of supplies for charge outs and salvages for FEMA.
  • Work with Accounting to research and resolve material inventory issues.
  • Ensure that the CIS work queue is kept up to date and cleared timely.

Control and account for disbursements of materials and supplies using barcoding software.

  • Coordinate the preparation of material sheets in conjunction with the assemblies and codes on staking sheets using knowledge of RUS accounting and units.
  • Assemble and issue materials and supplies from inventory to authorized personnel according to established procedures. Maintain records that reflect impact of transactions on inventory levels.
  • Assemble special material orders for new construction or maintenance projects.
  • Coordinate material transfers to major projects or to other facilities.

Maintain storage facility and control operations.

  • Ensure that warehouse and storage areas are maintained and operated according to OSHA requirements and internal procedures.
  • Keep material stored and stacked in a safe manner and ensure the facility is clean and maintained in an orderly manner.
  • Ensure that forklift is operated in a safe and efficient manner and that it is checked and verified to be in sound operating condition. Request forklift repairs or adjustments when needed.
  • Return rubber goods for testing on established time schedule.
  • Examine returned materials from construction and maintenance projects. Determine if materials should be disposed of or returned to inventory. Maintain records of transactions. Check with Manager, Purchasing & Fleet on questionable items.
  • Responsible for training and coordinating the work of other personnel assisting with warehouse activities.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Responsible for training and coordinating the work of Assistant Warehouse Coordinators and other staff assisting with warehouse activities.
  • Detect faulty operations or materials and report all unusual conditions to Manager, Purchasing & Fleet.
  • Follow safety procedures and keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.
