OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:

This role is accountable for ensuring safe, reliable, efficient warehouse operations which are aligned to achieving Oil Sands objectives and is a collaborative liaison with internal client organizations including Operations, Maintenance and Finance to understand and achieve desired / required service levels. Accountable to maintain inventory accuracy and controls for approximately $150 million of inventory in compliance with SCM policies.

EDUCATION SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years’ experience in Materials Management within a commercial/industrial setting; Cross functional experience with an emphasis on warehousing, inventory management and control, and process improvement.
  • 5+ years of experience as a people manager, team lead, or supervisor.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Customer-centric, outcome focused, and ability to drive change across the business.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills; great attention to detail.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing business culture and corporate objectives.
  • University degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or Technical discipline preferred.
  • APICS CPIM, CLTD, CSCP / SCMP preferred or equivalent industry experience.
  • Superior presentation, oral and written communication skills.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in SAP MM / WM / BW / BI or other large-scale inventory systems.
  • Exceptional computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads a team of warehouse staff to ensure safe and reliable warehouse operations
  • Has a clear understanding of the Warehouse Management policies & procedures, HSE safety policies, the company’s vision and how the warehouse contributes to these goals & objectives.
  • Maintains receiving and warehousing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Complies with federal, provincial, and local warehousing and material handling requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on strategies, KPI evolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide monthly KPI’s as required.
  • Manage and measure the cost, quality, quantity, and efficiency of storage and movement of goods.
  • Support financial objectives of the annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions.
  • Develop recommendations, facilitate, action and report on warehouse optimization and improvement projects for inventory accuracy and warehouse utilization, through analysis of transactional histories, business needs and facilities constraints.
  • Plan warehouse layout and space requirements to prevent loss or damage and to achieve full warehouse optimization.
  • Define and scope necessary SAP reporting and supplemental systems to continuously improve warehouse operations.
  • Manage & support warehouse staff by recruiting, orientation, performance reviews, development planning, coaching, and mentoring of warehouse staff.
  • Engage with internal customers to monitor and receive direct feedback regarding the quality of service they are receiving.

DETAILED DAILY TASKS:

  • Lead the toolbox talks and confirms Warehouse teams sign in/out (incl. crossover information).
  • Complete daily FLHA.
  • Wear appropriate PPE in SCM managed areas & reinforce the HSE rules.
  • Offer Safety Points rewards for positive safety behaviors.
  • Incidents & near misses’ response, reporting & follow-ups.
  • Manage warehouse & free issue areas.
  • Manage fleet, equipment maintenance & repairs.
  • Ensure daily and tactical warehouse activities are executed by the warehouse staff.
  • Create weekend activity list for the warehouse staff.
  • Support, schedule & execution of the Annual Physical Inventory (API) for all SCM storage locations.
  • Support the Approval for Disposal (AFD) procedure.
  • Perform weekly, monthly and annual warehouse inspections, system transactions, audits and self-checks as required.
  • Oversee & support the bulk chemicals orders as per tank’s dip levels.
  • Create N0 notifications as required & follow up to execution.
  • Manage warehouse staff’s progressive disciplinary actions & evaluations as required.
  • Manage vacation approval & coverage of warehouse staff.
  • Initiate Short Presence Worker Form for temporary contractors within the SCM managed areas.
